Analysis Underrated Collingwood Players

Watching a few highlights from years back, I always felt Ben Johnson was purely underrated, He was a great player for us.

Interested in who you guys thought were or are underrated Collingwood players.

Sir Scott Burns takes the cake. He was an absolute champ and to be captain for a short time at the club he loved, would have been a great honor for him.

Johnson was underrated for many years. He started to get more recognition with the emergence of the stat of "metres gained" where he was one of the competition leaders for a few seasons.

I thought Johnson was well rated by people, was known for having a lethal side step. everyone knew he was going on the left but was still able to get onto it every time. definitely copped it early on but had limitations without the strengths to cover it, later on was judged pretty fairly imo. always going to be held in higher regard by collingwood fans but thats no different to a lot of clubs.

i agree with scott burns and ill say anthony rocca as well. we were nothing without him and when he wasn't playing 2003 we were no chance

I second Rocca, I have herd people call him the worst 200 game player ever, he was in the top 2 most important players for a team that made 2 grand finals.

lol that is taking the piss. was meant to be anthony rock as the worst but respected collingwood poster jumped the gun and the thread launched!

on topic, rocca was a beast for us. was a pretty shallow team when you review the list, lots of players would make our worst team of last 15 years and they matched it with one of the greatest teams of all time in Brisbane - Rocca was instrumental with that.

If you ask Macca's he was underrated. Probably increased their revenue stream by 50%.

Agree, I was one of few who were happy in him coming to Collingwood while everyone was bagging him out as a bad player. Had a terrific season.

Blair cops a bit more criticism than he's due.

He's streets ahead of your Dwyer types but some of the reviews on here make him out to be grossly incompetent yet are lukewarm toward Dwyer.

And no, I'm not trying to hate on Dwyer whole was always a 28-34 prospect on our list.

Apart from Jeff White and Dean Cox, no other ruckman in his era could cover around the ground as well as him.
