"22 Faces” - Garden of Delight (1984)
“Eighties” - Killing Joke (April 1984).

Who really copied who, if three songs with a similar guitar riff were released prior to "Eighties"? P.s The band complained, but they never filed a lawsuit.

The lineage of this riff is a fascinating case study in how difficult it is to trace musical origins. Multiple artists sometimes draw on the same influence at the same time without even realizing it.
