Came here for Dave Hughes, guess I'll get in line.

Aaron Chen, Monty Franklin and Ronny Chieng (even though hes not Australian but lived here for a lot of his life) are 3 that i rate. Comedy is subjective so im sure we all disagree
I like Aaron Chen when he ad libs, and the like, but saw a stand up special of his and he struggled. Same for Lloyd Langford, albeit he was banging on about his daughter for an hour.

Thoughts on Bron Lewis?

Don't rate her

She is another one of those female comedians that does lame jokes about being married and having kids like she's the first one.

The funniest female comedians are Kitty Flanagan and Judith Lucy, they aren't married or have kids and crack jokes like blokes.

Both of them featured on The Weekly with Charlie Pickering for a reason, they are the best female comedians judged by blokes.

Female stand-ups seem to get drawn into talking about the same 3 or 4 topics over and over. Men are stupid, kids are annoying, you have a vagina. Groundbreaking.

Nikki Glaser surprised everyone on the Tom Brady roast because she showed range. A 5 minute set on a roast gives you a chance to poke fun at 10 different people so you work with what you have. Different beast to standing on a stage talking to a crowd for an hour. She's funny but her Netflix specials are definitely not my cup of tea.

Reckon that's a pretty outdated view of women comedians, if it was ever accurate. Maybe the most famous ones got drawn into that because that's what the audience expected, but there's always been women that joke about the same things as men. Looking around today, I've enjoyed specials by Tig Notaro, Taylor Tomlinson, Fortune Feimster, Aisling Bea, Demi Lardner, Fern Brady, Demi Lardner, many more, all of whom do pretty different and diverse material.

Reckon away, but the stereotype exists for a reason. I'm sure plenty of people think Jim Jefferies and Bill Burr are just angry middle aged men that rant about women. I like Taylor Tomlinson but I wouldn't hold her up as an example of different and diverse material. Can telegraph what were specials are going to be about. It's not always a criticism, if something works lean in to it. Most of the "unfunny" comedians ITT are way more successful than any of us.

The stereotypes often say as much about the person stereotyping than the one being stereotyped. You cited 'woman having a vagina' as one of the topics they get drawn into, but no one looks at a male comedian joking about their life and observations and rolls their eyes, saying 'gee, another man talking about having a penis'. Women talking about their lives is not 'talking about their vagina', it's simply a different perspective half the world doesn't have. It's the audience that seeks to put that in a box.

Personally, I enjoy watching comedy from different genders, races, sexuality, because it gives you a perspective you otherwise don't have access to. It still has to be funny, but too often, the majority audience is declaring it unfunny because it doesn't match their experience.

I think a lot of the better comedy content is on social media these days (but I do love Aaron Chen). The Inspired Unemployed and Kick it Forward are the main two that make me laugh most videos.

Kick it Forward are ****ing horrible, I feel like they've gotten into the coke or something since they moved to Melbourne too because it seems like they spend the whole podcast just bullying the little muscly Italian one?

Every story also seems to go back to some guy they all know and how hell hilarious he is... no one knows your mate, stop talking about him and his Austin Powers impersonations.

Garlepp is also a horrible insight into sport and a worse interviewer despite being a sports journalist. 'so like yeah, this Aussie guy is like, gonna be a draftee which is, like, awesome for the sport and um, pretty good.'

Inspired Unemployed might have an IQ of 42 between them.
