I'm enjoying the social life of a uni student too much to have to grow up and be a respectable member of society yet.

So you disagree with me?

I'm not on a high horse - I'm lazy as well but all of us have to enter the real world at some stage, and since I like money I want it to be sooner rather than later.

Fair enough, probably a bit of an overreaction on my part.

Similar to Gus, the enjoyment of still being able to sleep in and the general social life of uni is too great for me to give it up yet. Will come a time when it's necessary, probably sooner rather than later, but at least for the next year I can still have that cushy life.

I could have sworn everything related to Law was boring, but that's just me.

I also thought this.

I am completing Master of Teaching at University of Melbourne. Completed an Arts degree and a Science degree in 2008 and did an honours degree in Anthropology in 2009. Been there since 2004.

just keep studying man.

18 months in a full time job about 4-5 years ago was enough for me to have to think there must be a better way.... i packed it up and went travelling with the money saved.... best decision i ever made... i don't know how we work for 40+ years.

got back from o/s in 2008... returned to tafe start of 2010. another great decision....

although i'm slowly resigning myself to the fact that one day i'm going to "have to be responsible".... but i'm fighting it every step of the way and pushing that day of responsibility as far back as i can.

what did you do between 2008 and 2010?

Same, the beautiful money that you go to uni to earn, get it asap and build your empire.

If all you think about is the destination, you'll miss the journey.

And lol at you for thinking you'll have an empire. You're doing a commerce degree. Every second person in the world has one of those. Reality is you'll work as an accountant for the next 40 years, doing the same repetitive shit all day in an office.

Yes there are also shitloads of jobs.

Reality is, start as an accountant work your way up, get into management.

ahhhh the empire. i'ts a pipe dream. some do get there. but the majority just slave away becoming increasingly jaded with the realities of life. and most of the time someone creates that empire, they've done so far too late in life to actually really enjoy it. what's the point of having all the money in the world in your 50's and 60's when you're wasted your 20's.... sure having complete freedom would be pretty good, but lets face it.... the majority that build that empire just want more. so they don't have complete freedom in their 50's and 60's because their still slaving away to further build their empire....

and even those select few that do just go "i'm done" pack it all in and live off the interest during their twilight years.... at that age your dynamics are different. you've probably got kids who need looking after so you can't just up and leave them for months at a time... you can still go chasing sechxsing partners but i can't imagine it's nearly as fun at that age as 26... especially if you're still married... worried about getting caught and that empire crumbling.... even just every day things are physically more exhausting....

my mate told me a lecturer of his told them a story. don't know whether it's true or not or been exagaratted or twisted or whatever because the moral is still there:

Every year this partner in a law firm takes in their new recruits and brings them around to his house for dinner and drinks... during the night he takes them on a tour of the house and finishes up in the garage and he says to them; "Boys and girls these are my prized possessions, my three ferrari's... they're pretty nice yeah?? Well if you all work hard enough, one day, i'll own four..."

lol. I just got let go after working for the last 15 months after finishing uni. I might go back. Damn I miss uni.

yeah it's a pretty good life. definately look into it... the two main thing's to consider financially are whether you're still eligible for youth allowance or austudy... mate from above got a letter late last year so he was no eligible for support because he had recieved 10 semesters of student support... he's only just re-started for the year so i don't know what he's done about that... and the other is fees. when i enrolled at tafe they said if i had already recieved a diploma or higher qualification (even if it's completely unrelated to what i'm doing) your fees go through the roof.

the other thing is to head off travelling if it's something you haven't done or done much of. highly recommened getting a visa in UK, Ireland, Canada, US or anywhere you want and just choofing off for a year...

not saying i'm never going to dive off into the world of responsibility, but for the time being, in my 20's i see very little reason to.

If money is all you care about, then yeah. The rest of the world prefers to live like a normal person and just enjoy what they have instead of chasing paper.

I'm not in it for the money- I'm in it for the enjoyment of the industry.

People are weighed down so much by wanting vast amounts of money. All you need is enough to live comfortably.

You've gone through uni with little to no social life, hardly any friends.

There is a bloke we play cricket with who worked hard and made lots of money at the expense of a social life and such. Money can only take you so far.

Yeah the empire isn't likely to eventuate, Paul Robinson is my idol, I want to be just like him. However I would probably settle for a couple of houses and a decent car also enough money to see out my days, don't exactly want to live on a pension for 20 years, terrible way to go IMO.

Paul Robinson off neighbours he meant.

So really an evil old man who has been divorced three times, has a fake leg and is universally hated in his community.

He doesn't care though, if people like you, you are obviously going against human nature and being something you are not.
