I like checking facts. I looked at the last eight years and I have noticed the fact that the Crows have made the finals seven times. I have also noticed the fact that those seven finals series contain zero premierships and evenly more amazingly zero Grand Final appearances. I have also noticed the fact that this is the first time the Crows have made the finals seven or more times in an eight year period. The first time Collingwood made the finals seven or more times in an eight year period was from 1900 to 1907. Collingwood weren’t abject failures like the Crows as they made four Grand Final appearances and won two premierships.

No you are right, BWST. Vern was also a Wright. Vern Wright played 5 games for Carlton. Three games in 1920 and two games in 1922. Although his contribution was small he still contributed more to Carlton’s successful 1915 to 1922 campaign than Crows superstar John Hinge did to the Crows failed 2001 to 2008 campaign.

C’mon Natman, maybe he just can’t read. Speaking of Read, Phillip Read played 74 games for West Coast from 1998 to 2003 before transferring to Melbourne. Whilst at the West Coast he played in 1 final in 1998 and 2 finals in 1999, making him a valued contributor to their 1992 to 1999 record.

One obvious error. We played Melbourne in 1998 not 1997 and if played under the current finals system, we would have played the 8th side at home not the 4th side away as we did in 1998 (we could afford to lose in the first week and especially so given the 8th side had lost the previous night).

In the end, we won, so suck on that.

Quite correct. In 1998 you finished fifth and lost your first final … but due to a flawed finals system you were still in the competition???!!!??? The AFL saw the error of its ways and corrected the finals system and ten years later you finished fifth and lost your first final. As a consequence you now have set a unique record and a whole thread dedicated to this record.

Back in 1902 Collingwood set a unique record as the first team to lose a finals but go on to win the premiership. But they were minor premiers so the double chance was deserved and their premiership was valid and not a bradbury like yours.

That’s just it. The Crows are happy to rest on their laurels. As long as they are ahead of Port they don’t care what the rest of the competition is doing. Hence destination disease and their last eight years of failure.

In 1923 Fitzroy had 7 flags, 2 more than Collingwood, Essendon and Carlton. Fitzroy supporters were wandering the streets of Melbourne sprouting “7 is greater than 5” to anyone who would listen to them. Fitzroy then rested on its laurels and eight years later Collingwood had 9 premierships and Fitzroy were never to head them again.

Yes, Melbourne did smash the Camry Crows in the 1998 Qualifying Final. But worse of all Melbourne weren’t rewarded and the Crows weren’t punished.

This didn’t happen in the late 50s and early 60s as Melbourne were always rewarded for their final victories back then.

That’s easy to explain. Both West Coast and Adelaide did not have to contend with a merged club like the Brisbane Lions when their initial squads were maturing.

Whilst on the topic of the West Coast they made the finals every year from their fourth season to their eleventh season. How come the Camry Crows only made the finals three times from their fourth season to there eleventh season (ie 94 to 01)?

I don't want to see you sad, Weekend. Many Carlton supporters were also sadden by the treatment of Jack Worrall. Jack Worrall was a first class cricketer who played 11 test for Australia. After his cricket career was over he went on to become the what is acknowledged as the first football coach. After coaching Carlton to the first threepeat in the VFL from 1906 to 1908 the players revolted over pay. Worrall was forced out of his coaching position and as a result Carlton competed in the next four finals series without winning the flag. Very similar to what happened to the Crows when they sacked Gary Ayres.

I can’t give you a drum roll but I can give you a Drummond. Tom Drummond played 94 games for Collingwood including the 1917 and 1919 premierships. He eventually went on to captain Collingwood. Unlike other captains he has never been suspended leading up to a finals campaign. Even 90 years ago he knew this sort of behaviour can cost a finals team dearly. If only Elbows Bickley in 2002 and Elbows Riccuito in 2005 had the benefit of being tutored by Tom Drummond.

Its not a retort its an observation. Im actually curious to read D Ones response. He seems to be wasting a huge amount of time on something most people have responded to and moved on.

Below is my retort from a few days ago:

Unlike Disturbed One I dont have the time to waste my time researching, so I will ask 3 questions that count:

1) Who has won more premierships, the Crows or Power
2) Who holds the record for the greatest GF defeat in VFL/AFL history?
3) Who has the winning record in finals between the two teams?

If the answer is Crows, Port, Crows. Then Deluded One anything else you write is your attempt to deflect your teams poor record compared to ours.

Funny thing is D One couldnt answer it.
