Wow

Adelaide Crows
1991 - 1998
3 Finals appearances
2 Grand Finals
2 Premierships

Who woulda thought

C’mon Weekend this thread is about teams that have played in seven or more finals series in any eight year period. The Camry Crows only played in three final series between 1991 and 1998. However West Coast played in seven or more finals series between 1991 and 1998.

West Coast (1991 to 1998) 8 Finals Series, 3 Grand Finals and 2 Flags
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

102 to go.

No problem. Almost everything you put on here makes me laugh.:thumbsu:

If you want to laugh Weekend lets compare the Crows to the first club to play in seven or more finals series in any eight year period.

Fitzroy (1897 to 1904) 7 Finals Series, 5 Grand Finals and 3 Flags
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

101 to go.

Yeah, I know D. Couldnt help myself though.

TP, what are you alluding to?? The players don't try under Craig???

Can you back that up?

Also D, thanks for this thread with the stats. I was getting withdrawls after not seeing a stat for a few days.

Here's a stat 2>1;)

If only you could lure Malcolm Blight out of retirement, you'd have a decent chance there.

This thread is quite hilarious. Sure, it's another D_One stats thread, but it confirms what everyone already knows, the Crows play to make the finals, not to win flags. At least under Ayers you were trying.

Speaking of Gary Ayres

Hawthorn (1981 to 1988) 7 Finals Series, 6 Grand Finals and 3 Flags
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

100 to go.

if you're going to slag properly at least follow your own rules

Port Adelaide (2001 to 2008) 6 Finals Series, 2 Grand Finals and 1 Flag
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

Still 110 to go.

that's not seven is it now?

and i'm guessing that playing finals gives a club a better opportunity to win a flag that year than not playing finals in that same year.

bye bye

With 99 to go we may as well honour the great man Bradman who retired in 1948. What else ended in 1948?

Essendon (1941 to 1948) 7 Finals Series, 6 Grand Finals and 2 Flags
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

Correct but I didn’t include that one in the count. I’ld like to give you another Brisbane one but I’ve run out. How about a Fitzroy one instead.

Fitzroy (1900 to 1907) 7 Finals Series, 5 Grand Finals and 2 Flags
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

98 to go.

97 to go after this. When I hear 97 I think of Bradbury. And Bradbury won in 2002. So …

Essendon (1995 to 2002) 7 Finals Series, 2 Grand Finals and 1 Flag
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

Can you back that up?

Not at all Bernie, I wouldn't question the players endevour. What I would suggest is that the focus is so set on making the finals that the finals themselves are treated as almost an afterthought by the coaching panel.

I believe the technical term is destination disease :p

You’re starting to sound a bit deflated. Maybe the next one will pick you up a bit. After all I know you like laughing at losing Grand Finalist.

Collingwood (1974 to 1981) 7 Finals Series, 4 Grand Finals and 0 Flags
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

96 to go.

oh I get it - that's your method for avoiding harsh realities :)

cue: D-One's next post...

Sorry I almost missed your cue: There used to be long queues (yeh I know it’s a tenuous connection) during the depression. I think Carlton may have been a bit depressed. But not as depressed as Crows fans from 2001 to 2008.

Carlton (1928 to 1935) 7 Finals Series, 1 Grand Final and 0 Flags
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

95 to go.

While we are talking about disease, it reminds me of the 1918 flu pandemic. 1918?!!? What else happened in 1918?

Carlton (1911 to 1918) 7 Finals Series, 3 Grand Finals and 2 Flags
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

94 to go.

Not at all. This very much relevant thread is just rivetting.

Whoops, gotta go, lawn bowls in on TV.:D

er, very witty TP.

:D

Your on fire!

Fire? Sounds like Ash Wednesday to me. When was that ? 1983. Hence ->

Nth Melbourne (1976 to 1983) 7 Finals Series, 3 Grand Finals and 1 Flag
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

93 to go.

Again:eek::D Stop it please.

Er, cue D's next 100 posts. Gonna be a busy weekend eh D???

Half of the posts in this thread are from the same poster..D One. Looks like he is digging deeper and deeper into obscure (and incomplete) stats to make him feel better.

So according to D One, its is ok to make the grand final and be humilated rather than not amke it at all. But it is better to miss the finals than to make them and not win the flag. Once again total hypocricy, I guess that what happens when you have an unhealthy obsession over your big brother.

Lawn bowls, hey? Do you know who was good at lawn bowls? Jock McHale. He coached Collingwood from 1912 to 1949.

Collingwood (1913 to 1920) 7 Finals Series, 5 Grand Finals and 2 Flags
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

92 to go.

I must say, it's a very interesting stat - like that one about a team from outside the eight making the top four the next year every season since 1975 or so.

It's basically a statistical inevitability that a side has a serious shot at a flag after so long in finals.

2003, 2005 and 2006 were clearly the misfires that cost Adelaide joining the others.

But its true, icrow32. 115 times a club has made the finals seven or more times in an eight year period but only once has that club never made the Grand Final.. Even when Carlton only made the 1932 GF they at least won the prelim final by 75pts. No regular finalist has been ever as incompetent as the 2001 to 2008 Crows.

Carlton (1926 to 1933) 7 Finals Series, 1 Grand Final and 0 Flags
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

90 to go.

Jock McHale was also very witty.

Collingwood (1914 to 1921) 7 Finals Series, 5 Grand Finals and 2 Flags
Camry Crows (2001 to 2008) 7 Finals Series, 0 Grand Finals and 0 Flags

91 to go.

I wouldnt worry about what Bernie Slomax says
