You beat us because you were 7 spots higher on the ladder, and had been the form side all year.

We had struggled all year and only just made it into the 8.

You were heavy favourites.

If you're using that game as the basis to say that you have a good finals record and we have a bad one, you're using perfect sekaj logic I suppose.

What I'm saying is, using one game to try and deflect the argument from your horrible recent finals record over to us says more about you than it does about us. You know an frank and open discussion about recent finals win/loss records isn't going to paint you in a good light, so you try to steer the discussion toward one of the few instances where you have played well in a final this decade.

In that instance, you were 1st playing 8th.

Once again, if you'd like to hold up one game in which you as the top team in the competition beat the 8th best team in the competition in a final as your evidence for having a good recent finals record, you're delusional, or you're deflecting.

It explains why the Power constantly humiliate themselves and make themselves the laughing stock of the AFL i.e. 'dream final', 119, constant chokes, etc.

Did that make sense? Or should add some LOLs to my post?

LOL Did that make LOL sense? Or should LOL add LOL some LOLs LOL to my LOL post?

Is that better?

Inscrutable logic that,

Let me get this straight the gospel according to Sekaj is Port lost to the Crows in 05 which sums up why Port lost the 07 GF by 119 points and are as you dub a 'laughing stock of the AFL' who constantly choke?

WOW who could argue with that?!

OH I FORGOT LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL watch i'll throw in a R, ROFL, ROFL ROFL, now i'll really mix it up, ROFLMAO, ROFLMAO

Ok Sekaj when you finish building the second stage booster down at the DSTO at Mawson lakes as you clearly are a rocket scientist here it is laid out very slowly and simply for you...

Yes Crows beat Port in the 'Dream Final'
Yes we sadly were not good enough and got smashed on that occasion.

I and others have tried to point out to you that one of the reasons for the difference was the Crows finished Minor premier (that's first place) while Port were lucky to make the finals and finished 8th (thats the LAST spot you can finish to play finals). This generally is a pointer to how the teams are performing higher up the ladder = good; lower = bad.

quote]

Its convenient that you believe this now to prop up your argument. Port were the defending premiers in 2005 and even after that win against the Roos your coahc came out and stated that the players "were bored playing H & A football"and that they were a far better finals side than a H&A side. Then came the thrashing.

Port exist to win flags yet have less than a team that is apparently a failure. Port took longer to win their first flag than the crows did and take longer to win their flags than the Crows. Plus the Crows play in the finals more often than Port.

Still waiting an explanation as to how the Crows are a failure yet Port are the pinnacle of success

Ok first off i dont think anyone is arguing Port are some example of September dominance, its been well publicised that we aren't. What this is about is pointing out to spanks who like to put 119 on their signature that the Crows actually aren't much if any better and certainly aren't better in recent times. Yes you have two flags we have one, but Hawthorn have 10... the point is no matter how many flags you've won in the past it doesn't change the fact that the Crows haven't played off in a Granny since 98 despite facing off in what 3 prelims since that time (02, 05,06) correct me if i am wrong on that stat..

Then today a special person named Sekaj tried to argue the one final the Crows beat Port in explains why the Crows are hero's and Port zero's come September.

So i put it you how does winning two flags in the 90's or the time taken to win them explain why the Crows with all their proven September success couldn't make a GF since then, while Port with our choking history of embarassment make it?

You see, there is special irony in the work of Sekaj.

His primary argument to suggest that the Crows are better in finals, is one semi-final as the minor-premier against the team that finished 8th, which would never have occurred had the Crows not choked in a home final the week earlier.

How does it feel to have the same amount of premierships as St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs?

How does it feel to have the same amount of premierships as St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs?

How does it feel to have fewer permierships than
Brisbane
Carlton
Collingwood
Essendon
Geelong
Hawthorn
Melbourne
Kangaroos
Richmond
Sydney
West Coast

you see premierships really aren't a strong point for either SA club are they?

Maybe another way to put it is how does it feel knowing that your SANFL club didn't make it into the AFL in its own right?

And for God's sake don't say my club was part of the SANFL which is where the Adelaide Crows football came from, that is a whole other level of BS spin that has sadly sucked in so many South Australian's...

given I posted stats to end D_One's little fixation, I may as well post them again given the current argument.

"hmmmmmm *wonders how Port did in their 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th seasons?*

so, we may as well compare apples to apples rather than horse apples, as stats can really say anything you want if you're skilled enough. And the last 8 seasons? Means nothing in a 16 team comp, or the 15 team comp, the 14 team comp, or the 12 team comp, we all know you use the 16yr rule to gauge success, but anywhoo I digress.

Port, 12 completed seasons up to 2008. So, that's the last 8 completed seasons of their 12 that we are talking about.

Thanks to D_One for skilfully pointing out (6/8 series would be less than 7/8 of course, so I guess that means Port aren't one of the 115);

Port: 2001-2008 6 Finals series, 8W's-8L's (50%) 2 GF's - 1 Flag.

Adelaide: last 8 seasons of their first 12; 1995-2002 4 finals series, 9W's-4L's (69%) 2 GF's - 2 Flags."

Now, Yes Adelaide's finals record hasn't been flash of late, and yes we have dropped a few home finals, but lets face it, we weren't the first to do that we were? in fact the St Kilda final was our first home final loss. We are also not the first to 'choke' after finishing Minor Premier or close to it.

2001 - 3rd (0-2) lost a home final
2002 - 1st (1-2) lost a home final
2003 - 1st (1-2) lost a home final

Yes, Port won the 2004 flag, and whilst you make excuses about the Finals system in the years we won, it still aint perfect. And lets face it if Brisbane picked only fit players and didn't take 4 injured players into a GF (in the most staggeringly arrogant displays of all time) they could easily have won 4 in a row. You beat who you draw and whatever the system thros at you. We weren't the lowest place loser in the first week of '98 and we went on. We had to win Rnd 22 in Perth to make the finals, then went to Melbourne, Sydney, Melbourne, Melbourne to win a flag. No one had won 4 finals to win a flag before us in 97 and no one had to travel interstate 4 weeks in a row to win a flag before 98. So neither of them can be downplayed, nor can Port's.

What else should we compare?

Which club has the most All Australians?
Which club has the most All Australian Captains?
Which club has the most 300 gamers?
Which club has the most Brownlow Medallists?
Which club has the most Coleman Medallists?
Which club has the most Century goalkickers?
Which club has the most SOO players?

all ridiculous to compare in reality given the difference in age, but it's very easy to throw rocks.

Unique Port record

119 point world record grand final humiliation.

Go back to your Port Board and talk up your win versus Sturts u21 squad and Sydney ( no pre-season wins in 8 years)

You beat us because you were 7 spots higher on the ladder, and had been the form side all year.

We had struggled all year and only just made it into the 8.

You were heavy favourites.

Oh wow. You make it sound you were never going to win the game and yet it was proudly declared as a 'dream final' and all Power supporters were jumping up and down like pork chops on heat before the game celebrating as if they had already won the game.

Now after they humiliate themselves in their 'dream final' Power failures like ThunderPower here start moaning about how, in reality, they were nothing but a bunch of losers playing for a rabble in a game they were never going to win.

Like I said. Nice try but it's not going to fly.

If you're using that game as the basis to say that you have a good finals record and we have a bad one, you're using perfect sekaj logic I suppose.

What I'm saying is, using one game to try and deflect the argument from your horrible recent finals record over to us says more about you than it does about us. Oh my God. You really are nothing more than a moron, aren't you? When exactly did I use your 'dream final' as 'evidence for having a good recent (sic) finals record'? Is that the way you expect to win this debate? By making up arguments on my behalf to argue against?

By the way, none of you Power failures have answered my question yet. Seeing as the Crows are so 'abysmal' in finals and the Power are so f**king great in finals, why did they fail when they had a chance to prove this against the Crows in their 'dream final'?

I mean, you had a golden opportunity to prove this in the 'dream final' but you failed, choosing instead to humiliate yourselves. And now everyone is left having to just take your word for it that the Power are just better in finals despite the facts stating the exact opposite.

So, please tell me. If the Power are better in finals, why did they not win the 'dream final'? Please explain.

And why do they only have one flag compared to the Crows two? If they were so goddamn great at 'existing to win premierships', you would have thought they would have more flags by now instead of having LESS premierships to show for 'existing to win premierships'.

WOw thanks for the contribution Fred seriously good stuff not tired, or old, or irrelevant or unoriginal :thumbsu:

Be honest Sekaj did you learn to walk upright (as in on two legs) this morning?
If so must be a proud day for you and your family....

Why exactly would we need to come up with anything else besides 119? Anytime you Power failures come up with anything you think is clever, all we need to do is slap you in the face with a 119 gag and all you can do is cry and walk away with your tails between your legs. :thumbsu:

Well isn't it obivous your rambling BS has been answered by that many people that many times that your the only one who seems to think it hasn't... honestly lay off the red cordial and killer python's, have a nap trust me you will feel much better...

Uhh, no it hasn't actually. Nice attempt at 'deflection'.

You Power failures seem to think your rabble are better than the Crows in finals and yet you still failed to beat us in your 'dream final' despite being so much better than us in finals. Why is that? You want to have a go at explaining this? Because nobody else has yet to provide a satisfactory explanation for this.

So who should have exited the finals in that week then, all bottom 4 of the final 8, it would have been a very short finals series if that was the case.
If the 98 finals was played with todays system then the Crows would have a home final against the 8th placed team, a game the team of 98 would have won (unlike the current team we have).
Yes, in 98 you would have played Essendon, a team that you beat by all of 2 points at Football Park earlier in the year...

Good to see you admit (by omission) that the 97 finals were flawed.

Just like if the 2004 finals were played with todays system Brisbane would have had a home prelim final rather than travelling to Melb to play, if this was the case Port may never have won the flag.

The difference is that you got directly favoured by the finals fixturing 2 years running.

We controlled our own destiny. We finished top and won three finals, against the teams that finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th on the ladder.

The fact is the Crows have 2 flags and Port have 1, no one can understand how this makes the Crows failures and Port Power a success. No matter how you cut it, the Crows beat the power in anything associated with successful finals football and for a club that "exists to win premierships" it must really cut deep, its ok though, you still have a certain GF record to hang on to.

No-one confuses Crows 2 vs Port Adelaide 1, it's that Crows supporters can't admit that they were the beneficiary of very fortunate finals fixturing 2 years running.

I guess it's just the direction you guys are going that is the point.

At one stage, you had a finals record of 9 wins, 2 losses.
It now stands at 12-12.
That means you've won just 3 of your last 13 finals matches.
No wonder you need 119 to keep your spirits up! Must be depressing watching your own finals over the last decade.

Which is where your BS argument falls down. ONE team has won the flag after winning 4 finals, ONE. One team has won a flag after playing 4 games interstate. We also weren't the only ones benefiting from a final 8.

1999

Qualifying final: Brisbane Lions (3rd) 20.18 (138) d Carlton (6th) 8.17 (65)

Semi Final (MCG): Carlton (7th) 18.16 (124) d WC Eagles (5th) 10.10 (70)

Carlton went on to win a PF and onto the GF which they lost. But, they got flogged in week one, then pulled a home final against WC!?!... who finished above them in the minor round no less. Plenty of examples.

There is no benefit if you got the draw we got especially if no other sides in the history of the game have ever matched it, no matter how much you want to prattle on about it.
