Discovered the other day I can hit a "Bubba like" tee shot with the driver... (minus about 40m of length)
So basically I am setting up with my feet and hips aimed a long way left of the target line, my shoulders are more or less aligned with the target. Ball a little further back in my stance than normal, (middle or maybe a few cm back from middle) From there I concentrate on keeping some width on my backswing before hitting it as hard as I can from the top.. I feel that the open feet and hips works similarly to a cricketer "clearing his hips" to hit the big slog over mid on / mid wicket.
Today up the 18th hole at Eynesbury off the black tee and into a little breeze I bubba'ed one 280m (235 to carry the water approx) To give you an idea of the breeze I then hit 6 iron from 140 to the green (normally 6 iron goes 165-170m)
Give it a try sometime, it's a bit of fun and you might find you can get one out there 20-30m longer than you would normally drive it!!
What unique shots can you play? Any secrets around the green?
