Unique Players

No, not kidding at all.

He played and played very well for North. In fact, was one of their best. All he needed was a break. Good player.

Swallow is hopeless player, I dont even see any North supporters defending him, and they see him week in week out. He continually butchers the ball and has horrible footskills.

I dont understand how you can defend your choice of selecting him when hes not even in the Roos best 22. If he plays 22 games I will be gobsmacked.

Swallow does have DT potential to be a decent mid-priced cow. He tackles a lot and gets first hands to the ball in contests, and BD is right in saying he had a good game.

He was named on the extended bench and was not going to play until Anthony was pulled out, so him playing was very lucky. Swallow's selection will be a week-by-week proposition, because as BB alluded to, his skills aren't that flash, and we really can't afford to have him and Simmo and Power all butchering the ball out of the middle.

Scoring potential is decent enough but job security is far too low.

Agree with Virgil, Adam Bentick is a good DT'er when it comes to scoring potential but you wouldn't pick him because he's not good enough in AFL terms to stay in the side. Swallow is a similar player and a similar DT choice, only difference is he's less expensive.

My under 5% players
Razzle Dazzle: 112, and IMO more than 95% of DT coaches will wish they had him by the end of the year
Can't be bothered figuring out if Tuck is under 5% but if he's not he's close, so I'll add him. 110. Another one I'm obviously very happy with so far
Butler: 38. Meh, as long as he holds his spot a shit Round 1 score doesn't bother me too much. It'll only count for one price change.
Gia: 129. Hmm ... my unique picks seem to be pretty damn good. I thought I'd have more though, the amount of people who picked some of the players I picked was larger than I thought.

That's your opinion of a player getting in the way of your DT choice. Whether you like a player or not, or whether they have average skills or not, they still may have the potential score and raise in price as you and everyone else would very well know.

He's a player that has the potential to grow, and is only 21 years of age. He had a bad year last year, but there's nothing to suggest that he can't improve on his form of 07 and solidify himself in the North lineup. That's the risk some will take.

Cloke brokeout last year and imo is overpriced if anything. Travis has much more potential.

He did, but as i said his role has changed and as the poster said that influenced his decision to pick him.

Houli, again, is a player that at his price needs to be a keeper. He is probably the only one out of the 4 that I considered, but for an extra 25-35k you can get Birchall or Lockyer who will definitely be keepers and solid scorers. Hes the only one out of the 4 mentioned that could play 22 games and increase ppg by 10+. Then again he didnt impress in round 1, but still could be a stat rat.

How do you know they're 'definately' going to be keepers. You're assuming things here - it's unlikely but there could be a drop in form or point scoring for all you know. In addition Houli played the majority of last year in pain before going in for surgery. One would suggest that there is scope for improvement especially playing in the bomber midfield.

I'm not saying these guys are going to all be successful, in fact, far from it. I wouldn't pick Cloke, but can see why someone might. All i was doing was merely pointing out that a persons idea of a DT selection that may vary to yours does not always mean that it won't turn out to be successful. It is individual interpretations that make DT so interesting and competitive. If this guy can get ahead in some way or another, then good on him.

I'd argue that there's a difference in ability between Swallow and Bentick, and that the Carlton midfield is probably a bit more competitive for spots at the moment than Norths. Once again this is only my opinion.

Plus as you said, there is plenty of scope for improvement considering his lack of games in 08.

How unique is Skipworth ?? I added him a a late replacement and he ended up with a solid 124, and nobody i knew had him.

Surely swallow missing the initial 22 worried you though?! :p

Yes, but being in Perth, only having computer access after work and the last minute cram on DT meaning I couldn't log on mean't bad luck I was stuck with him and no emergencies regardless. Luckily I nominated a captain (Ablett). For his price though, he should appreciate in value if he holds his place (and on the weekends performance you would suggest he will).

Actually all have logic behind the choice. The O'Bree one is a bit sus but i agree especially in regards to Andrew Swallow. Good pick. I was mulling him over and ended up going with the extra cash cow instead of mid range player.

The Cheeseman will play 22 if fit, no question, and he hasn't been out with injury in the last couple of years IIRC. O'Bree also gets more TOG this year with Burns out. He also doesn't play anywhere other than the midfield. Definitely picked him as a cheap keeper and really expect him to avg 95 too.

Swallow should be a decent mid priced cash cow for me, if he establishes himself then he might be more than that which would be pleasantly surprising.

Mine with >5% are

Geary - 2.58%
Mundy - 2.26%
Mackay - 1.27%
Gia - 3.11%
ROK - 4.98

Not including bench players.

also my unique player brent staton only has 2767 selections (1.28%).

really hoping he can go close to averging 100 this year. he has started really well.

That one surprises me when you consider he is the Bumblers best player and theres over 19k supporters in dt. Did the 413k scare them off? It really shouldn't have.

for me Craig Bird 2,172, just hope he can deliver himself to me at 330-350k.

(NumberOfPicks/TotalNumberOfTeams) * 100

You need to go back to middle school.

Obviously.

Lol, I thought he meant go through every team, which would be impossible. As the %'s are in the same place as the Number of picks, I assumed he didn't know where to find how many times a player was picked either.

I have quite alot of semi-uniques i think ---> less than 7.5%.

Mcphee - 11,433 (5.16%)
Waite - 7,620 (3.44%)
Ben Johnson - 3,070 (1.39%)
Mackay - 2,816 (1.27%)
Jolly - 5,208 (2.35%)
Lynch - 3,444 (1.55%)
T.Cloke - 12,365 (5.58%)

What did you score this week?

Under 5%
Newman - 4.2%
Geary - 2.56%
Mundy - 2.24%
Buckley - 0.95%
Simpson, K - 2.21%
Tuck, S - 1.18%
Morton, C - 0.85%
Otten - 3.61%
Gilmore - 1.8%
Gia - 3.08%

Turns out my team is full of unique picks. And the only ones that were deliberately unique was Otten and Gilmore. And picking Geary has saved me a few 0s from having Raines
