So much to take in from last night and this year.

Building the foundation for why this year means so much:
  • 2 years of covid impacting the chance for getting to games.
  • Having the president that saved our club stand down prematurely
  • The club needing to conduct a review regarding racism
  • Forcing two guys out of the club that absolutely loved wearing the black & white
  • Trading out our prized draft pick that won the rising star and was a vital to our run in 2018
  • Going into freefall in 2021
  • Bucks tenure as coach ending as a result of the freefall
  • ....possibly more
This year:
  • Round 1 vs. St Kilda @ Marvel - This game set the scene for our year. The atmosphere was incredible and the post game celebrations from the fans, players and coaching staff showed how much passion there is for our club.
  • 11 wins under 2 goals. We didn't just break a record, we shattered it. Call it luck or call it skill, but regardless it was heart.
  • Showing we are the real deal in finals by running alongside Geelong until the end. Collectively were seen as the better side but didn't seize our chances
  • Falling agonisingly short of what would of gone down as one of (or arguably) the greatest comeback in VFL/AFL finals history
  • 17th to being a kick from playing in the grand final.
  • 11 wins in a row
We hit the lowest point our club had been since 1999 over the course of 2020 - Early 2022. Look at how we responded. Can't be anything but proud of our year.

Never forget is the message to take from this year.

Never forget:
  • We never said die all year
  • The set play vs. Essendon
  • Coming from nowhere to deny Carlton a finals spot
  • How much this club means to so many people
  • The hurt of the preliminary final loss, but also acknowledging it takes a special group to mount that sort of comeback.
Years like 2018 and now 2022 add to how special it will be the next time we reach the pinnacle.

Never forget 2022 - The year our club rediscovered itself, but ended with unfinished business.

Bring on 2023, I love this club and can't help but feel lucky to support this side.

Shouldn’t it be 2021 that isn’t forgotten?

We finished 17th. Expectations were zero. So 2022 was a blast, easily amongst the most entertaining year as a supporter. Heck even some oppo supporters were entertained, that’s how insane it was.

I might just go into every year imagining that we finished 17th the previous season.

I don't agree with the bulk of your post.
