WC and Freo were both new teams.

The 8 WAFL clubs in the 1980s voted for a WA entrant to the VFL, then the WAFC applied for a second license for Freo in the 90s.

The SANFL didn't want a bar of it until Port tried to join behind their backs so they blocked Port and created the Crows in a hurry.
The SANFL at the time were under no financial pressure. All of the SANFL clubs met and decided to wait and try to push for a better deal from the VFL. Port went behind the backs of the other 9 clubs backs shortly afterwards and approached the VFL.

The WAFL, like the VFL, weren't in a great financial position when they voted to join the VFL.

The SANFL couldn't see the writing on the wall. With a team in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth the VFL was already becoming a national competition.

Actually they could. Their preference was to try to establish a genuine national competition, as opposed to an expanded VFL with rebranding.

when a car hits a pole fast enough to cut it in half, thats not a tragedy. its natural selection.
The tragedy is its always the passenger that dies who is probably bunched up in his/her seat screaming "SLOW DOWN!!"

It was originally a campaign to promote a local supermarket chain that stocked local produce. Coles and Woolies tended to import a large proportion of their produce from outside the state, which was ultimately having a negative effect on smaller local businesses and producers.

In reality not much different from Dick Smith

Ok fair enough but in isolation it looks pretty damn pathetic I'd have to say.

Interesting this morning reading that Woolies have decided to end their 8 year price war with Coles and moving to towards normal pricing of milk.

How would you feel as dairy farmer who sent to the wall over these corporate tactics? They aren’t much different to the banks when it comes to ethics.

Does Adelaide still have the thing where most shops can't open on Sundays but Foodland can?

The other thing about Adelaidians: they are quite sensitive about their parochialism!

If you think South Aussies are parochial you obviously haven't been to Queensland.

QUEENSLANDER!!

I swear to god in Year 7 Geography they were doing some quiz.. one q was "What is the worlds most liveable city?" And the student put Melbourne.

Then for "What is the worlds least liveable city" she put Adelaide.

I'm not even joking :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Adelaide is a cool place, I've been there a lot for both business and pleasure, they just have a chip on their shoulder a lot, little brother syndrome, similar to NZ but the Kiwis don't have it quite as bad imo.
