Mick Molloy is funnier and better than Peter Helliar but Helliar is way better at talking about serious issues than Mick.

Molloy is an alright comedy actor, but as a stand up or improv guy, he's passed it.

Who listens to comics to hear about serious issues?

The odd occasion I would because I want to see how they go with it.
Do they have a good command of what they're talking about?

Adam Hills does a good job at it but Charlie Pickering comes across as something punchable.

As a general statement, any comic attempting a serious issue is overly leftist and safe in their opinions and humour. Hills and Pickering fall in to this, along with many others.

The U.K's New Statesman puts forward a theory on why there are virtually no right wing stand-up comedians around;

http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/2013/04/where-are-all-right-wing-stand-ups

...The African-American stand-up Chris Rock maintained that stand-up comedy should always be punching upwards. It’s a heroic little struggle. You can’t be a right-wing clown without some character caveat, some vulnerability, some obvious flaw. You’re on the right. You’ve already won. You have no tragedy. You’re punching down.

You can be a right-wing comedy columnist, away from the public eye, a disembodied, authoritarian presence that doesn’t need to show doubt. Who could be on a stage, crowing about their victory and ridiculing those less fortunate than them without any sense of irony, shame or self-knowledge? That’s not a stand-up comedian. That’s just a c*nt...
So leftists punch upwards at the righties in control. Righties, being already IN control, have no comedic power to punch down as they've got no sympathetic audience.

Yes, and the punching up and punching down thing has always been largely bullshit, and shows a complete lack of knowledge of the history of comedy, and unsurprisingly always comes from those on the left and basically amounts to "the right are big baddies therefore their jokes are mean and ours are noble because are cause is noble". In other words, it's self-satsifying nonsense. It also laughably makes out like those on the left are forever 'not in control', and always fighting the good fight against authoritarianism, also bullshit.

You need a tranquiliser, not a placebo.

I think Charlie Pickering's problem as a comic is that he comes across as far too up himself. You need a certain level of self deprecation to be a comedian, and he just seems to be too in love with the idea of being the Australian Stephen Fry or something to actually be funny.

Do people still care about the royal family?

Most irrelivent bunch of "important" people there is.

Philip's not too bad.
Foot in mouth but everyone's been there so he's relatable and bearable.

Harry's the resident party boy and every family needs one.
Kate Middleton's hot.

Fergie's a corker.
She's the unofficial royal informant/whistle blower.
Maybe that's why the royals don't like her very much.

Charles is the biggest issue for me.
He comes across as utterly boring, dull, buzzkilling, dismissive, snobbish, old fashioned and punchable.
Maybe he gets it from his mother.
His other issue is Camilla.
She comes across as a homewrecker.

After the Queen Mother died, I couldn't give a shit about them.

Lizzie, Phillip, Harry and Kate over Kim, Caitlyn, Khloe and Kanye any day
I don't have an interest in any of them, and in terms of quality of person, I'm sure you're right. But Kanye for one has at least done something to be in the spotlight, he makes music. What do the royals even do? Honestly, I'm not trying to be a smart ass, do they do anything?

Her Maj has been one of the defining international figures for eight decades now, and she's done it with aplomb. You don't need to be a David Flint type to admire what she's done.

I do. Not much but i do. Why?

Because it's nice to have a story once in a while about a wedding, baby or some toe sucking/ hitler costumes and topless pics >>>> murders, ISIS, gang rapes, etc.

You don't think we get enough of that? Scott Pendleberry's Bali wedding was a channel 7 lead story for goodness sake!!
