Yes, and the punching up and punching down thing has always been largely bullshit, and shows a complete lack of knowledge of the history of comedy, and unsurprisingly always comes from those on the left and basically amounts to "the right are big baddies therefore their jokes are mean and ours are noble because are cause is noble". In other words, it's self-satsifying nonsense. It also laughably makes out like those on the left are forever 'not in control', and always fighting the good fight against authoritarianism, also bullshit.
So why the conspicious absence of actual right wing stand-up acts? Do you have a theory yourself?

Political correctness would surely play a part, ie, no major TV networks will sign them.
Or the major TV networks, being mindful of the fact televisions shows are just the inconvenient breaks between revenue raising advertising spots, realise right-wing comedy just won't attract the audiences that make advertisers want to reach them. If its a numbers game, then the numbers may not be kind to righties.

I'd watch a right wing comedian though. I get a kick out of South Park's libertarian antics, even when they're taking the piss out of the 'trendy left'.

Mick Molloy is funnier and better than Peter Helliar but Helliar is way better at talking about serious issues than Mick.
If you're going to either Helliar or Molloy for humour, let alone "serious issues" you need to have a serious think about things, dude.

They are not my go to comedians.

If anyone they're at the bottom of my list alongside Rove, Ryan Shelton, Hamish and Andy and others.

I posted some revenge porn online once, wasn't my proudest moment but was probably the best wank I'd ever had

I'm not saying it's right but ethically it's better than posting and looking at pictures of a person changing at the beach or in a hotel room.

But they are celebrities, so it's okay...

Black Books is GOAT comedy TV. I binge watch all three seasons every Boxing Day.

I've see both of Bill Bailey and Dylan Moran live in the last couple of years. Bailey was amazing, probably the funniest 2 hours of my life. He's a really well rounded entertainer and highly intelligent as well which adds so much to his comedy.

In my mind, I thought Dylan Moran would be Bernard Black. But now he's a married 40 year old with kids who has the same problems as any married 40 year old with kids. It was sort of depressing in a way. Still v. funny, though.
