It was necessary but that's about it.

The planned ground invasion if they didn't surrender would have been brutal though.
That's what it comes down to for me, if the Americans were to invade Japan, the human costs would have been astronomical.

They planned to, it wasn't an "if" but a prevented "when", and it all woulda been done in a radiation filled death zone on top of the actual warring.

I hate make up on women, I think it makes them look fake and unnatural. Seriously, no matter how many people can compliment a womans make up and say how pretty they look with it, I just don't see it.
Women look better without it. And it's not even close, they look so much better without it

I don't mind makeup, but the lengths girls seem to be going these days in my age group to look good is a bit worrisome/ugly to look at.

Girls who spray themselves orange (not make-up obviously but still) and then look as though they've smashed their face into some kind of orange cake. Are these girls blind or something? Obviously there's still blokes keen enough to take a shot at getting with those types but I don't find them attractive at all.

They do it because they look better with it on men without. She may only be a 4 with makeup but she'd only be a 2 without it

Yeah, it's similar to those guys at the gym/festivals with their juiced up Zyzz bodies - my wife says that she and most, if not all, of her friends don't find it attractive at all (though she may just be saying that I guess), yet they still pull plenty of birds - coincidentally, usually the orange bimbo types that you alluded to, at least from what I've seen.

Some of these girls have pretty decent bodies though and faces that aren't all that bad. You see some of their younger photos (if you happen to have them on Facebook) and think what the hell got into their head.

Yeah it's definitely a look these girls go for. Bogan types that hang out at scummy bars and nightclubs lap it up.

Make-up has its time and place, but obsession with it is a sure sign of insecurity.

I know girls that can't go to the local shops or the beach without spending half an hour doing hair and make-up. I mean FFS.

If it's noticeable make up, that really stands out doesn't do much for me. But hey, not my choice to make.

You just shake your head and wonder. My 'preparation' is making sure I'm half presentable.

Was talking to a friend to a friend who's into make up and such, more of a hobby than a daily routine. Asked her how many different colours/types of nail polishes she has, she said she had 120.

I then asked her how much do they usually cost. She said 10 or 15 dollars, it varies. I'm fair sure she was lowballing it here.

That's at least $1200 bucks she's spent on nail polish!

The kicker is, they dry out as well if you don't use em lol. That's $1200 on something that can easily expire.

She should keep them in the fridge, they last longer.

War is far too easy to wage these days. You can blow apart a country with drones, and barely sacrifice a man, it's entered into far too lightly. Modern day leaders would rethink their actions, if they knew they were going to be sending 20k+ plus people to their deaths.

There was also the domestic political situation to consider, the Americans were getting sick of the war, Truman had just taken over from the revered FDR, and the last thing he would have wanted to do was head towards the 1948 presidential campaign with the war still going on in the background.
