It doesn't actually matter if the specfics are correct, because that isn't the focus of what he is saying. He is simply using a relevant current example to explain what he means.
If he didn't use JMac as an (incorrect) example, I'd see some sense among his drivel.

But alas twas not the case.

I'll rephrase.

So if he had referred to a hypothetical scenario that never actually occurred containing the exact same circumstances, you would agree that he may have a point?
No. I just said it was an incorrect example.

Hint: emphasis on the word "incorrect"
I understood what you said; I think he was wrong in using JMac for an example, because he doesn't know the circumstances of the event. Doesn't matter if it's a different person or not, it's not right to judge something you don't know shit about is my basic point

Then your problem is that he made a base assumption about a given situation which may or may not be correct, which isn't something that really affects his point. It could be applied to any individual in the limelight who makes a mistake that costs them their life.

And if it turns out that what has been assumed is correct, what then?

I have no problem with the assumption itself. I have a problem with the complete and utter lack of disrespect that came with it.

And if it turns out that what has been assumed is correct, what then?
Then we can name a cause for McCarthy's death so maybe his distressed family can finally sleep? Der.

I CBF arguing this. You know my views on this damn well, agree or disagree I don't care. I just don't want to listen to your biased alternatives anymore.

Perhaps he could have lovingly smothered his post with kind words about McCarthy.

It's not as though he posted his opinion in a tribute thread to McCarthy. If he did, I would agree with you.
Perhaps he could have not made any reference to McCarthy at all. It's weak as piss to be honest, worse than trolling someone on twitter. If someone gets enjoyment writing things like that then they clearly have something wrong, and have zero perspective on what an actual life is. Defending them isn't much better.

Have been in Adelaide so haven't been able to reply so I hope you are ready for a tl:dr

What's this yeah, nah crap? A speech impediment?
What's this? A ******* English lesson? We are on a forum, you want proper grammar then go elsewhere.

Not sure why I'm even bothering to reply to this, but anyway - I don't think the idea of this thread was to give weak minded trolls such as yourself a thread where you feel justified writing crap purely to upset people who are already a bit emotional. It's another example of someone writing something that they would never, ever have the pills to say in front of people that they didn't know, but behind a keyboard all of the sudden they grow a couple of feet taller. It's not that it "seems disrespectful", it's disgusting.
You realise you can stop reading and move on? No one is forcing you to read this. Question though, do you find the Darwin awards funny? ( http://www.darwinawards.com/index.chapter1.html )

You call me a keyboard warrior yet here you are attacking me, from a keyboard. Pot. Kettle. Black.

My opinion stands, whether you agree or not. You want to talk to me about it in person I'd be happy to meet you at a game next year and I'll tell you the exact same thing.

Aker? Is that you?

Before I get started on the insults, let's clarify some points.

Point 1. You did not witness the death of JMac. Correct or no?
No. Neither did you, Correct or No?

Point 2.
The "or" suggests uncertainty. So even if you've got any idea of how he died, you most certainly aren't sure of his state of mind at the time of his fall. Therefore, shut the **** up.
So if he wasn't intoxicated (which would be a very good excuse for the decisions he made) then why would he jump from a balcony to a palm tree 9 metres off the ground?

Point 3. You don't think that John in his current state would be begging for your almighty sympathy...do you?
You know I actually feel sorry for everyone else. Because now his family, friends, loved ones and fans all have to suffer for his mistake.

For someone who doesn't know the story, you are pretty quick to judge. I'm sorry if your parents never appreciated you or if your missus wouldn't put out last night, but frankly that isn't an excuse to take it out on others. Especially the dead, who can't fight back; that's about as weak as piss as it gets.

So take a ******* hike and deepthroat as many cacti as you can find because no one will have any sympathy for you and your bitchy little rants
As neroblack would say, keyboard warrior who turns to insults because they can't construct an argument.

If a random bloke jumped from a roof top to a pool and died would you honesty give a rats arse? NO! You would probably think he is an idiot why would he do that? Just because the bloke was a sportsman does not make him immune to critics. He made a horrible mistake which other people have to suffer, as I mentioned earlier, including his family, friends, loved ones and fans.

Doesn't the joke go something like "To rid the world of stupid people remove the warning labels?" (Not saying McCarthy is stupid) but he made a mistake and it cost him his life. I don't feel sorry for him. It's everyone else that has to suffer.

If it comes back that he was not at fault of his own death I will happily come back and eat my own words and I'll even send a loving e-mail the PAFC and CFC. Until then my point stands. Like it or not.

Stupid idiots who jump from a Balcony to a palm tree while intoxicated (drugs or alcohol) will never have any sympathy from me.
Well he's dead, so I'm not sure what good your sympathy would've done anyway.

The fact that he was drunk is surely the saving grace for him here... Clearly wasn't thinking straight, had no one there looking out for him, and he makes a bad decision. People do stupid shit when drunk all the time, what's else is new?

The thing I don't get about your post is that you made a point of saying 'while intoxicated', as if that somehow painted him as a bigger idiot. Surely that actually absolves him of at least partial blame? I mean if it turned out he did this whilst utterly sober, I would've submitted the Darwin application myself.

The Arsenal, New England Patriots,
We are getting soft - how did we manage in WW1 & WW2 when every day the newspapers were full of casualty lists?

This case is awfully sad for the family, but enough

I dunno. If someone got pissed and bashed someone to death would they deserve to cop a lighter punishment because they were on the grog? I don't think so. Millions of people get pissed globally, most of them don't pull life-threatening stunts.

I don't find the Darwin awards particularly funny. But you know, maybe that's just me.

If someone writes a quick one liner that's making light of someone who just died or being disrespectful, then yes, I'll call them a keyboard warrior. Nothing to do with a pot, or a kettle. The attitude some people take towards these kind of events in forums or on twitter is disgusting, I'm not sure how you can defend that.

Sure, but I think that's a different situation.

I'm not saying being drunk is a get-out-of-jail free alibi, just wondering if the OP was suggesting he was a bigger idiot for doing this whilst drunk, opposed to someone doing it stone-cold sober. To me, it was an important distinction as to whether I remembered him as someone who threw their life away unnecessarily, or someone who made a bad decision while under the influence, like so many other people do without paying for it with their lives.

You could argue he still DID throw his life away by putting himself in that position in the first place, but that wasn't my issue, and I'm not really in a position to judge others drunken behaviour anyway.

This is going to stir the pot but if you are stupid enough to put yourself in this situations then you deal with the consequences.

Big bump for this thread

I don't mind Jeff Kennett. I may not necessarily agree with him all the time but he always gives his opinions no matter how unpopular they may be which is more than what can be said for most football media identities

That's so strange I was going to post the same thing.

I like Jeff and I also like Eddie, pretty much for the reasons you said. They're not afraid to speak their mind and they're passionate about their clubs

1. Cheating in a relationship is not the worse thing that can happen as monogamy is unnatural to begin with. Tend to think people are overly hysterical about it in general.

2. Prison sentences for minor non violent crimes are too harsh and should be used as a last resor
