-Kath & Kim was actually a decent show (for the first 2 seasons at least, then it went downhill).

-Winter > summer

Agree with these 2 points.
I really liked Kath & Kim when it came out. It slowly started becoming annoying though, never bothered to check out the movie.

Despite its name, ironically, I don't think that is an unpopular opinion.
Wonder which artists from today people will remember in 20-30 years time?

There are countless artists from the 1960's-90's which are considered legendary and are still listened to by many people to this day. I am unable to think of a single band/musician from the past 10 years that can be ranked alongside some of the very best artists of all time, let alone the top 40-50.

We live in a day and age where people can whack a few things together using a computer program and make a song. Considering many artists do this now, it really speaks volumes about the creativity and originality that goes into producing popular music nowadays.

Nearly fell asleep during the movie. Don't bother wasting your money on it.

The first 2 seasons I thought were very good, the 3rd was okay, and by the 4th most of the humour/gags had become stale.

However, I often hear people say Kath & Kim was crap from the very beginning, which I couldn't disagree with more. The first 2-3 seasons were actually a pretty good laugh.

-Bogans are generally better and more pleasant people than latte-sipping yuppie types who live in inner Melbourne.

-People who are opinionated about a certain topic are usually the ones least worth listening to.

-Most popular music nowadays is rubbish.

-Winter > summer

Top 2 I agree with.

Plenty of popular music gets lost to time for being completely unremarkable.

The only difference is that previous generations didn't specifically try to assault your eardrums.

True in an individual sense.

But bogans in large numbers? No thanks
Both of them are generally pretty unpleasant. Having to choose between hanging out with one of the two would be like having to choose whether I want my left or right testicle cut off.

However, a majority of the latte-drinking, white collar, hipster, 20-something types I've come across would have to be some of the most irritating tossers I've ever met in my life. Speaking from experience they're generally incredibly self-absorbed, pretentious, condescending, and arrogant people.

You make a good point about bogans in large numbers though. Even worse is bogans in large numbers on the piss.

I think the inner city type people cop a bit of unfair crap though: I see what you mean with some of them being a bit pretentious or elitist, but most I've met are pretty down to earth. Maybe it's the ones who are happy to talk shit about footy that are generally nice people.

Which leads me to thinking, people who don't like football (or any sport) are generally moos and should be stayed away from.

I don't think they count as latte-sipping hipsters if they stoop to talking footy!

everybody knows this except teenage girls and men of questionable sexuality

Nah, there is still lots of good music being made. Some of the most popular releases in the past 6 months have been from people like Jack White, David Bowie, Daft Punk etc. I'm a fan of all of them.

How many artists do we remember from 20 years ago? About a dozen are canonised as huge, massive, generation-defining. Most music gets lost in irrelevance except to the small niche who always loved it. I can assure you that today's music will end up the same: there are pop artists who'll be remembered for a while. I don't like them, but surely Coldplay and Muse are pretty big and mean a fair bit to lots of people.

As for bogans, I think there's a huge difference between definition. Is a bogan someone who sinks piss, watches the footy, pulls cones, is unemployed, but just likes being with his mates? That's probably the typical definition. And yeah, I don't think I've met any who were genuinely ill-intentioned people. You can't hang around with them too long, but they're affable.

I reckon the new definition sits somewhere between white bred (FIFOs, cream brick houses, brand new redevelopments, cars they can't afford, jet skis, Two and A Half Men, Carlton supporters) and the absolute cretins of society (meth heads, dead at 45, having kids for the baby bonus [spent on bundy and coke], simply not very intelligent, criminals). Y'know?

The Next Day is soooo good. Can't believe he managed to put it together over two years without word getting out. The Duke still showing the kids how it's done. :thumbsu:

They're the exception rather than the rule these days though.

I'm excited about Empire of the Sun's new album, loved their first album and The Sleepy Jackson's stuff too.

Luke Steele is one talented mofo.

I'm 18, I go to Melbourne Uni, I drink lattes, I live in SE Melbourne.

Not everyone is like that, but I do agree that there can be people with the personality that fit your stereotype.
