Don Walker and Robert Forster should be spoken of in the same breath as Paul Kelly (the musician, not the footballer or the hack).
Agree, especially Don Walker who's a great songwriter.

Apart from his work in Cold Chisel he has done some great work as a solo artist and with his own band Catfish in the late 80s and early 90s which never got the recognition it deserved.

I dont know if this falls under the non-football or the football "unpopular opinion" threads but I'll go with this one.

I dont believe Harry O'Brian is telling the truth. There is something about that little interview he did, he came off as smug and he could barely contain his stupid grin the whole time.

Ever since years ago he came out with the fact he grew up in the big bad world in Brazil I couldnt like him.. maybe that clouds my judgement a bit but I still think he's a wanker and this whole depression and can't come forward for fear of his life seems so contrived and just plain bs.

I've been a Harry apologist for years, whilst my wife can't stand the guy

Today, sadly, I moved toward her way of thinking. Yeah, he may have issues, like lots of people, but the way he just blurted them all out was a touch odd...

This is not really an unpopular opinion, but it's a completely irrelevant one. You can think what you like, but it doesn't change what has or hasn't happened.

There's no reason whatsoever do make anything up, however, if I entertain you 'opinion' for a second, wouldn't you have thought that if someone were to make up any of that, then they've probably got some problems that they need to deal with anyway?

There's no grin in the interview either. People can like or not like the way he talks, I find it a little odd too, but I'm not sure there's a normal way to say any of that stuff.

Harry O'Brien didn't even 'grow up' in Brazil. He moved to Australia when he was 3.

I'm sure he's been exposed to plenty that your average middle class, suburbanite has not through a different cultural ubringing, stories from friends and relatives etc. but he's not some kid plucked from the favelas playing football on the street that went on to be a global megastar and inspirational figure as I think he likes to portray himself.

He grew up in Perth and attended the best public school in the state.

I'm sure some would argue with that.

Some are more than entitled to do so. It's hardly an outrageous claim to call Rossmoyne SHS the state's best public high school. Perth Modern is about the only other with claims to the title, and it's a bit of a special case.
Churchlands and Willetton are the two that spring to mind. Applecross too.

I'd have Rossmoyne ahead of both. Each to their own, though.
I think they're all close enough that it doesn't really matter, other than for bragging rights.

The point being, it's not like Harry O went to Balga SHS, let alone grew up in a Rio di Janeiro slum.
All true.

Drinking Alcohol alone, outside social events and on weekdays
People who club or go to bars during the weekdays

Drinking alcohol alone is underrated. Go to a bar/restaurant on your own and shyly sit in the corner with a soft drink and basically you are seen as a loner no one wants to hang out with.

Have a quiet glass of red/choice of alcoholic beverage while contemplating life and you're the cool mysterious stranger that's too cool for school and is yet approachable. More chance of women approaching that way/been receptive to an approach then if you are in a large group. Or if all else fails you can just get drunk. Win Win.

I'd rather people go to bars on weekdays rather than make a nuisance of themselves at home on a tuesday night when most people have to get up for work

Beer doesn't taste well*

*however, last night was the first time I had a beer (Carlton Dry) after strenuous activity (footy training) and it was gone in about three minutes.
Yes

I used to drink lots of beer but now I only drink it in hot weather or after hard physical work

*takes a deep breath*
However horrific their crimes, those four guys in India shouldn't be hung. There is no circumstance under which capital punishment is appropriate.
That is a tough one. I don't think I'd ever argue in favour of capital punishment, but there are times when it is applied as a punishment, and I couldn't honestly argue against it. I think this is one of those times.
