And not one of these were our starting midsTo those comparing our side of 2025 to 1997-8, we had a midfield of McLeod, Ricciuto (98), Goodwin, Edwards back then.
There’s no comparison.
Correct - That 05/06 team they were. And not one of these were our starting mids

Winning a flag with this midfield, minus Rankine's difference-making rotations, would be one of the better efforts this century. To those comparing our side of 2025 to 1997-8, we had a midfield of McLeod, Ricciuto (98), Goodwin, Edwards back then.

Don't get me wrong, the Crows have a strong side overall. But Dawson, Soligo, Peatling, Berry is quite a middling midfield line up. They're a very low possession/clearance midfield unit of late, but players winning their position everywhere else is getting the job done for the Crows.
My post sort of covered that though. That winning most other positions has been enough to get by in those games. I think the midfield issue is one reason Adelaide have struggled even against terrible sides in West Coast, Melbourne, Collingwood and North Melbourne recently. It did look like it was going to cost them the Hawthorn game too, but to their credit, the forwards and defenders had their say again. Take Rankine out a few games and the result may have been swung though. We have lost the clearances in our wins against Collingwood, Hawthorn, Gold Coast, Bulldogs and Brisbane. The midfield is certainly our weak point compared to the other top sides, however the coaches have identified that and built our game to be able to lose the midfield battle and still win the game. Our results have shown that it can work.
We’ll find out in the next month whether it can be done without the X factor of Rankine. Whether we can get Rachele back in time has gone from being perhaps a nice bonus to an almost necessity.

I've given this some thought and the answer is no. As much as I'd love for the Crows to tank so Izzy baby Rankine can play the Granny if they make it, it would mean the Pies win. All Izzy did was refer to the bundle of sticks that are the goal posts and got crucified for it because of Eddie McGuire and his cronies. Jesus may be on the cross, but his Crom apostles can seek revenge!
Izzy is apparently doing a Gunners-esk training block in Europe in anticipation of the Crows ranking the QF.
Incorrect. Training block.
Hang on, let’s separate the fact from the opinion in that post.
The facts are that he is going to Europe for a week, and will spend some time at a training facility.
Mitch Cleary’s interpretation of those facts is he’s going there for a training block to be ready for a potential GF appearance.
Is there a statement from the club or Izak that that is why he is leaving Adelaide?
I’d suggest that the fact that the best picture they could get of him is a blurry one as he sneaks through not wearing his club gear means maybe he just wants to get the **** out of here for a bit.
If flying to Europe to train was going be this big advantage, why is Izak the only suspended player to have done so?
Nicksy confirmed it
Link please? I haven’t seen that.
I’ve seen this said:
“He’ll be back before the first final for the Crows. The Crows are trying to make sure he’s got all the support he needs over there with his fitness to make sure he’s up to scratch.
That doesn’t sound like someone going overseas specifically for the purpose of improving fitness. Sounds like the club are hoping to keep him fit in spite of being overseas.
We won't win next week.I hope Adelaide make the GF and Rankine kicks the winning goal.
