AM Nayar played 3 ODI's for India as a Batsmen, his return was a DNB, DNB and 0* , Never registered an international run, As a bat this must be pretty personally disappointing

Was wondering who you can throw up as someone who has a career at the elite level that wouldn't be overly satisfying when you look back on it.

P.S I get that making it to this level would be an ultimate achievement. This is more to find that unlucky player who never got a great chance to leave there stamp.

Averaging 50+ with the bat in First Class cricket, and 77 wickets at 30. the guy should be walking into the test team.

Unfortunately an average of 50 in FC cricket in India is isn't all that amazing, a few bats average over 60, Rahane almost 70. They are the breeding ground of flat track bully's

Bruce Reid had a solid career, but he could have gone on to be one of the greats if his body held together.

Scott Muller is an obvious one - had a good first class record and solid technique, but he was never "one of the boys" and once he clashed with Warne, that was the end of it.

Nathan Bracken should really have done more in the Test arena - imagine if we had a quality left-arm bowler in the early part of last decade.

Jaques dropped totally off the radar after such a promising start to his Test career, and presumably he won't be back.

His fellow opener, Rogers, blew his one chance and that was the end of him.

Geez, so many more...

Andrew Symonds' test career. Won opportunities largely off his ODI performances several times and never performed, then brought back when Damien Martyn couldn't be bothered and started to look like he belonged before ultimately losing favour due to off-field misdemeanors.

Also Michael Slater. Perhaps I'm a bit biased here as he was far and away my favourite player as a kid but I thought he never quite achieved his full potential. He achieved a lot, played a huge part in revolutionising the way the game was played, but he could have achieved so much more. He should have gone on to be as successful as Hayden, Sehwag (with way better technique) etc.
