I always thought Danish Kaneria would be a world class spinner for years to come. I remember many Paki commentators suggesting he'd have a career similar to Warne's because he took his first 50 wickets faster or something.

While all fair answers for the question posed, im keen to see some more unique ones, I mean Nayar was a bat with 2 DNB and a 0 not out, any one else who didnt bat or bowl or those sorts of cases .

Mark Cosgrove racked up some ODI runs IIRC then got overweight/injured.

Callum Ferguson had a great stint in the ODI team, got injured before the WC and has struggled since. Probably has a bit of time on his side but would want to get his name back up there.

Both should be considered unsatisfying I suppose.

EDIT: Cossie 3 ODIs, 112 runs at 37.33 including high of 74, also bowled 5 overs and took 1 wicket at 13. Ferguson 30 ODIs, 663 runs at 41.43 with high of 71*. Maybe a bit harsh a call on Ferg then. Could arguably be straight back into the ODI squad with that record - shame for him that format went out of fashion.

Also Brett Dorey, but he was more of an experiment by the selectors. 4 ODIs with 2 wickets at 72.

His Wiki profile states that he spent some time in England working as a bodyguard for the children of a wealthy Russian businessman and attempted to play professional footy with South Freo upon his return. This prior to his unsatisfying international career. But he would have seen some stuff in his 34 years!

I have never met him but I have a circle of friends that are all mates of his. Sounds like a ripper bloke.

From memory was only brought in as we had a massive injury crisis in that game and the series was already won, he was playing county cricket hence was rushed in.
The final county game prior to that test was used as a trial, with him essentially playing off against Shane Lee for the spot in the final test.

Andrew McDonald?

Michael Beer (looks like his seen his last international - behind Lyon, Doherty)

Brett Geeves (anyone remember his few ODI's against Bangladesh in Darwin?)

Moisés Henriques (time on his side though)

Dan Cullen (spinner from SA, played a handful of ODI's and a test for little return)

Ashley Noffke (1 ODI, finished with 1/46)

I think the OP was looking for very good cricketers that played a few games and didn't make their mark at international level due to limited opportunity and not so much the menagerie of the last dozen or so names.

This thread needs more Khaled Mahmud, a former captain of Bangladesh. As a 'frontline' Bowler (batted 8, averaged 12) he once had a bowling average that exceeded 400, only for it to improve to a final figure of 13 wickets @ 64. 67 wickets @ 42 with a E/R of 5.07 to boot.

Then there's the 85th player to represent New Zealand in the 50 over arena. Jeff Wilson played 6 ODI's, all against Australia. 4 of them were in 1993 where he hit 44 off 26 to steal a win. The other 2 were in 2005 where he got carted all over the park. In between he managed to get crunched from behind by George Gregan in the bottom right of screen corner at the Sydney Football Stadium and were one of many to not win a RWC for the All Blacks.

Graeme Hick played plenty of International cricket but really was an unfulfilled talent. So unbelievably fragile mentally.
