I'd get rid of Gardiner before Slade easily. Gardiner has had 5 years and hasn't had the injuries Slade has. But we've all got our opinions.

Not sure of the rules - I thought they couldn't be traded if they have a new contract less than 12 months - can someone explain this? I could be wrong.

Haven't heard that one before, Rosella. I thought that if there was agreement between the player and the club on the details of the trade that was enough.

Oh, and from what I heard today you can add Jimmy Bartel to the untouchables list. The Hawkins connection is very strong.

And whilst we're on young Tom. Don't let's put too much pressure on him. He's coming from schoolboy footy, where his size and strength gave him a huge advantage, to elite footy. I wouldn't be surprised if he spends quite a bit of time in the 2s next year. I can remember all the hoo-ha when Nathan arrived and it was only in the last few weeks of this season that he showed us a glimpse of what he can do. Tom is an exceptional talent but, as I said earlier, he's coming from schoolboy footy to elite footy so don't expect too much too soon.

Our hand may be forced with slade given he is on the rookie list though, he is not worthy of a promotion. Nor is Batchelor or Sheringham.

Yeah we'll all have differences in opinion about who's untradeable but the above should certainly go. After watching Spencer fall over in the goalsquare on Sunday and give away a goal my decision was made. Appalling.

Hopefully they can trade Kelly and Kingsley and some stupid club will give us half decent picks.
 
How come Playfair gets off so lightly

There is no argument. Playfair is useless!

But, if the argument was we need someone there at CHF for "team balance" or to "provide a contest" I'd rekon a witches hat would give a better contest personally.

I think what saves him ahead of charlie and mccarthey is that he is tall, strong and gives the impression he may be able to take a contested mark at some stage so still does require a big defender to go and stand him. Now this may not be the case 100% of the time but before breaking his jaw he had started looking alright in 2005 where the others just havent' shown any signs at all and we need someone to fall back on in case we get some injuries to the young guys or ottens or we get some suspensions (mooney)
