Im sure all AFL clubs likely hold a number of records which they are not proud of or want to be remembered for.

What are some of the unwanted records that each club has the honour of holding?

Port are lucky enough to hold a number of these highly sought after unwanted records.

Including;

Largest GF loss - 119

Largest loss at the MCG - 165 pts V Hawks in 2011.

First club to lose to the Suns.

Longest serving coach without a GF appearance.

Largest loss in the AFL era by the premiership team in that year - 2004 v Kangaroos, 92 points.

Largest loss in a home preliminary final.

What are the records that we are least proud that our club holds?

We won the premiership with Alex Jesaulenko captain-coach in 1979, then incredibly had club vote that saw president outed and Jezza quit the club as he did not agree with it. Amazing, you win the premiership but lose president and coach in same off season.
I was a little kid at time, and seen on news and like WTF?

Genuine question- what's the story here?

I wasn’t aware of this one until recently either but lucky port, another unwanted record we get to hold.

It’s the record for the largest loss for the eventual premiers during their premiership year. In 2004 Port lost by 92 points before going on to be premiers.

There is two other Premiers from the VFL days with larger losses but ignoring that.

geez fitzroy and the saints must be worried about their infamous records with the new kid in town

We lost by over 100 points earlier in a season that we eventually would become the premiership team at the end of the season.
I suspect no premier has lost a match in same season by a bigger margin.

We got kicked out for a season AND a finals series. That was fantastic and through no fault of the supporters we had to cop it and are still paying for it.

What season? 1970?
1945.... Bloodbath premiership.
On the bottom of ladder after three rounds having lost in round 3 by 100 points.
After nine rounds we still only had three wins for season to that point.
We would go on to win one of the famous premierships in history...

There’s worse records to have but we are the Only side to go 21-1 and Not win the flag.

By extension the only side that would win 23 games in a season and not bring a Cup home. Although Pies 22-3 in 2011 was notable in that they lost to just the one club for the three defeats.
