Up at three-quarter time and lose

Round 20 last year. Up by a point against West Coast at Subiaco. Lost by five points.

Didn't happen in any other match last year so the time before that must have been 2011 or earlier.

It was very dissapointing we shouldn't have let that slip
Should have got first clearance and goal
Hoping the team learns a lesson we can't continue to play in bursts

Last time it happened before the Eagles game last year was back in Round 3 2010 against the Dockers, 14 points up at 3 quarter time and lost by 7. From memory we got ourselves nearly 5 goals up at one stage early in the last quarter as well.

Just goes to show the importance of putting away good sides. We've struggled at times to do that this year- Hawthorn got back into our Round 1 game with 2 late goals, Carlton could've snatched a win from us with 10 mins remaining even though we were 5 goals up at 3 quarter time, the Dogs stuck at the task in the last quarter and we were unable to shake them, and finally Collingwood caught us napping on Saturday night when the game was still well and truly up for grabs.

It was obvious in the first few minutes we would get run over. We thought we had done enough in the 3rd quarter and switched off, we looked slow and non committed.

Don't forget that every team goes up a gear these days when they play us.
Imagine the build up other clubs go through when they see us coming up on the fixture.

For example North brought their best which almost cost us R2 and we just need to be better prepared for the all guns blazing attitude the opposition has that's currently contributing to our slow starts.

We almost had the pies but we obviously didn't appear that serious.

Seems like we only take the Hawks games as serious tests these days. :(

We've been forced into some first half substitutions while managing sore players on the bench in many of these games. This undoubtedly is causing us to lose a bit of run in the last quarter.

Yep, this is the main point that a lot have overlooked thats a very big factor.
Again on sat night we had to sub a player out before half time which in turn effects rotations as the coach cant be as liberal with them.

So another week and the whole team has to run out yet another game without a sub, its bound to catch up lately & to me it really showed.
We looked flat & lacked the usual run that we have had the first few weeks.
