Gibbs has bruising, no broken bones.

also Vela has been banned by Mexico for six months for partying too much. so that's a win.
Theo should be back to full fitness just before the international break too :thumbsu:

I hope Wenger tells the FA/Capello to GTFO RE: Theo

Agree with rdub's comments above. I like Denilson as a squad player. He has the right attitude for a squad player, works hard and you know what you are going to get from him. His ability to snatch a goal from long range is good too.

My stab at tomorrow's team
----------Alumnia-------------
Sagna - Kosy - Squillaci - Clichy
--------Song - Denilson-------
----------Wilshere-------------
Arshavin---Chamakh-----Vela

Have Vela in to give Nasri a break. I would also like to give Wilshere a break, perhaps Diaby could come on a bit earlier.
Good to see someone agrees with my assessment of our formation :thumbsu:

Do any of my fellow Gooners rate Denilson? We've got so many players of his frame and build but with a lot more talent on the ball. Personally think he is a waste of space - rather a tough, uncompromising DMC to offer support to Song.

He did have a tough childhood but growing up in the favelas
I think he's an extremely valuable player, but as a result of his somewhat understated approach to the game, it's pretty easy to look beyond his work unless you're watching intently.

He isn't the type of player who will do the spectacular, and instead, his major job is just to assist us in retaining possession of the ball.

Receive the ball, pass it, provide an option and then repeat the cycle - that's really it for Denilson in the offensive sense. It may sound like a minimal role, but it can be the difference between controlling the game and being controlled by the opposition. Moreover, it is vital to have a player such as this in a formation such as ours, given that we normally sacrifice a forward in order to control the middle of the park.

Although this kind of player isn't generally thought of too highly amongst fans, their value to the team is unquestionable. This is illustrated by the fact that players like Busquets and Denilson continue to succeed in Europe, even if some supporters wonder what exactly it is that they do.

Team news vs West Brom

Squillaci returns from a rest and Song returns from suspension. Diaby, Eboue and Rosicky all face late fitness tests but should be fit to be, at least, available for selection.

Gibbs, Vermaelen and Fabregas are set to miss the next two matches but all are a chance to return for Chelsea.

With 2-3 games a week now, expect some rotations which could mean starts for the likes of Vela.

Predicted lineup ...

Almunia
Sagna - Squillaci - Koscielny - Clichy
Song
Nasri - Diaby
Arshavin - Chamakh - Vela

Subs: Fabianski, Djourou, Eboue, Denilson, Lansbury, Rosicky, Wilshere

Unavailable: Vermaelen (achilles), Gibbs (foot), Frimpong (knee), Fabregas (hamstring), Ramsey (leg), Walcott (ankle), van Persie (ankle), Bendtner (groin)

Prediction: Arsenal 4 - 0 West Brom

Broadcast Details: Saturday 25 September - 11:55 PM (AEST) on Fox Sports 3 [RED BUTTON - VIEWER'S CHOICE]

ARSENE WENGER insists he is not scared of spending money - despite Arsenal yesterday announcing record pre-tax profits of £56million.

Yet, boosted by profits made from the redevelopment of the club's former home Highbury, Arsenal's net debt has gone down from £297.7m to £135.6m.

see Barcelona, this is how you get a debt to go down. not rely on AFL-style handouts.

We've drawn a tough trip to St James' Park in the Carling Cup.

The other favourites, Man Utd and Villa, have drawn Wolves and Burnley at home respectively.

Pfft, as soon as we face a decent club in that, we shit ourselves and lose 6-1 on aggregate.

Maybe the FA Cup if we keep drawing the likes of West Brom at home ... oh wait.

How shit has Song been this season? His passing piss poor and his tackling sloppy.

As for his positioning? I don't think he knows he is supposed to be the DM. At times, he is playing further up the field than Chamakh.

Diaby was ****ing woeful as well. Don't start a player when they're obviously not match fit.

I only saw from 60 min onwards. But why would you start eboue and diaby when they are coming back from injury? Did denilson play?

Record profit and we can't sign a f***** keeper. Clichy is just about done as well.

As for Song we are playing a stupid formation where he is given a role as box to box. Nonetheless he has been awful. So many front runners in this team.

Song would have to be playing to instructions but I dont get why Wenger wants him that advanced especially as his passing is awful most times.

Diaby was back to his normal self without Cesc playing to make him look competent.

Rotation mostly, there aren't many options with all these injuries. Can't expect Wilshere to play 300 mins in 8 days.

Denilson didn't play.

I don't think Clichy was our worst but like 9 others, he couldn't give a **** about this game. Gibbs has overtaken him.

We put way too much energy into the spuds game. We should of been playing JET, Nordveit and co. We may as well try win the f***** thing now

He's on the money for once. Collectively very poor and it looked weird watching them play, we were just yuck. Almunia has to go. That Koscielny guy is really 50/50, not that i think he is bad, but half the time he is brilliant, half the time poor. Still settling I guess. Verm and Fab will be big inclusions. I thought the likes of Diaby and Eboue shouldn't have started. Diaby looked really poor, needs to get match fitness.

4 in 2 for Nasri...finding some form I guess, he'll be a factor against Chelsea. Lucky results went our way, but these are the games we easily should win and we seem to lose them when we really need to win and get a big chance to cut the lead and gain points. I don't know what it is but something needs to change. Can't keep blaming injuries (would've won with Fab and Verm) but still.

Can't wait till Gibbs starts playing more and more.
