Good news ... Cesc will get a nice break after being left out of the Spanish squad.

Bad news ... He is less than 50:50 to be fit for the Chelsea game.

Do we have any other alternatives? Vela never starts, Wenger says Diaby won't start, maybe Eboue instead of Rosicky.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Wilshere does start. Hope not though, it may be too big a game for him (for now).

I don't like Eboue playing in advanced positions. He is a much better player at RB pushing up. Would much prefer Rosicky in the front half.

I wouldn't mind seeing Wilshere start, but not fussed either way. Our main concerns are down back though trying to contain Drogba and co.

I really hope Song does not push up when we attack. We cannot get caught on the counter like last season and I can sense us getting stung with Song pushing further and further up the park lately.

Denilson has to start, he is calm in games like this. I don't mind if jack plays, but think he is a bit inexperienced.

Team news vs Chelsea

This match has come too early for both Cesc Fabregas and Manuel Almunia. Kieran Gibbs has a calf strain and will be out for another couple of weeks at least while Vermaelen is struggling with an achilles problem and is a still a while away.

Diaby may not be fit enough to start but will be part of the squad.

There seems to be a lot of talk about Wilshere in the buildup to the match (including Wenger's press conferences) which suggests he may start.

Predicted lineup ...

Fabianski
Sagna - Squillaci - Koscielny - Clichy
Song - Denilson
Nasri - Wilshere - Arshavin
Chamakh

Subs: Szczesny, Djourou, Eboue, Diaby, Lansbury, Rosicky, Vela

Unavailable: Almunia (elbow), Vermaelen (achilles), Gibbs (calf), Frimpong (knee), Fabregas (hamstring), Ramsey (leg), Walcott (ankle), van Persie (ankle), Bendtner (groin)

Prediction: Chelsea 3 - 1 Arsenal

Broadcast Details: Monday 3 October - 01:55 AM (AEDT) on Fox Sports 1

Achilles injuries are the worst, someone studded me in mine by accident last year in the second game and i only played one more game that season.

Hopefully not to longer though, we do have 2 weeks break after tomorrow which i'm sure will come in handy for a few of our players. If all goes well we should have Fabs, Theo and Verm back right after the break and then RVP a week or two after that.

Why's that? he looks the sort of a player who would look forward to such a contest.

I remember a young Cesc Fabregas tearing Juventus apart in the Champions League.
