Such an unhealthy reliance on RvP it's not funny. Gervinho scufs up so many chances it's not funny. Striker, my arse. Don't get me wrong, glad we got the poits but we should have belted them atleast 4/5-1 if we want to be taken seriously. Would love to see the triumvirate of Ryo, Ox and Park given a bit of a run to see what they can do.

Per, Per, Per so undecisive and fell down on the slightest bit of contact. Can we switch him for Hummels just like Jogi Loew?

Christmas Shopping list:
Wingback (Left or Right - cover for injuries and Santos)
Centre-Forward (a M. Gomez type wouldn't go astray - not technically brilliant but knows how to find the back of the net)

Make it happen Wenger

Ok, let`s agree to disagree.:thumbsu:
gervinho just lacked that killer final touch mate. but overall we were very strong on the flanks last night which was great to see. that was walcott's best game i've seen in a long time, his final ball whilst not perfect was of a much higher standard too. in that chelsea game in particular a couple of weeks ago, only some poor finishing prevented a couple of assists being credited to theo

as for january signings, as much as i would love it i just cant see it happening. wenger often talks about how big our squad is etc. perhaps we might get some cover at full back, however i doubt he will buy another forward unless injuries force him to (touch wood RvP stays fit for this campaign)

wenger has already ruled out another bid for cahill at CB.

yep agreed

by january we should (hopefully) have wilshere, ryo, sagna, jenkinson etc fit and back in the squad

wenger will hail the return of these players as equivalent to 'new signings'

Yeah exactly right.

But no doubt we will have other injuries to contest with. I thik RvP's injury days are behind him to be honest. He's been fit snce January.

lol please dont jinx him mate! but yes we will likely have other injuries its just a matter of who and for how long.

goes without saying we cannot lose RvP. i dont buy into the one man team theory however we cant deny our reliance upon him is immense. the worry is the lack of back up

whilst park is still untested, chamakh is the worry. started off beautifully last season, but has been quite poor in 2011. he'll be off the AFC anyway in january i believe.

maybe thierry can be a short term back up option lol ;)

I remember that like it was yesterday. Do you guys remember when SBS used to have the one hour highlights show on Monday nights @ 7.30pm? (now its on fox of course). But I remember I used to tape that show every week and watch it after uni. Then use the same VHS to record the following week etc. However this was one of the rare shows that I kept at that stage - Kanu scored 3 in 15 minutes. It was actually the first goal Chelsea conceded at the Bridge that season, and he followed it up with 2 more

That goal was just phenomenal. It was a nothing ball from Overmars, looking for Suker but the ball just rolled to the sideline. Everyone (except Kanu and Ed De Goey) thought it was going out and all of a sudden Kanu pulls out that goal to win them game, amazing stuff. Martin Tyler at his best which was the icing on the cake :thumbsu:

Yeah the SBS show was a must-watch every week. They also did one live game a week on the Saturday night, I remember watching us thrash Boro 7-0 or something on the first day of the season.

4-0 in 01/02 or 02/03 at the Riverside. Bergkamp scored the last, cupped his ears in celebration. We wore that awesome gold top.

I'm not getting into this debate anymore. You'll see how we'll struggle without him in January.

Anyway, the other winger ...

have a look at our squad for that game:

August 18 vs Middlesbrough (a) 4-0 (1-0)
Scorers: Henry 43, Pires 87 (p), Bergkamp 88,90
Team: Seaman, Lauren, Adams, Campbell, Cole; Vieira, Parlour, Pires, Ljungberg (Grimandi 63); Wiltord (van Bronckhorst 83), Henry (Bergkamp 73)
Subs not used: Jeffers, Wright

brilliant, world class quality throughout the line up :thumbsu:

Yep as I said before last night was one of the best games I've seen Theo play. He's starting to string together some consistency for us which is fantastic. He almost killed off the game himself with a late strike that hit the crossbar

Henry off for Bergkamp, ridiculous.

Look at that back four. All of the squad. Ridiculous.

That's right. We beat them 7-0 a different time I think.

That team was such a great team.
I remember it so clearly, cos I remember watching the replay on the Sunday afternoon on SBS, and it was cold and grey outside because my friend and I went and kicked the ball when the replay ended, that Bergkamp image has always stuck with me.

I know to start our unbeaten run we beat Southampton 6-1. Pires scored a pearler from outside the box for the 6th I think.

yeah handy squad hey. how good was the midfield - a powerhouse in vieria (who has never been replaced by the way) supported by gun flankers in ljungberg and pires. freddie i remember was in scintillating form towards the end of the 2001/2 season, he scored something like 12 goals in our last 13 games and we won about 13 straight to clinch the title.

amazing team all round. adams retires shortly thereafter and wenger converts kolo toure from wide player to a beast of a centre back alongside sol campbell. brilliant stuff
