We were solid without being amazing. Only goal we conceded in 180mins was a Hakan knuckle ball that swerved every which way, brilliant stirke though.

It was a quality goal, yes. They pressed well in the first half and caused a few problems. The penalty definitely changed the game.

Did what we needed to from there.

Did it though? They had 1 out of no where stunner, they weren't really controlling the play to that point, and then the Welbeck dive happened straight after. If Milan had been dominating up until their goal then Welbeck's penalty and the momentum changed then I would agree with you.

I just don't think you can blame a 5-1 aggregate loss for them on an incorrect penalty call IMO.

Regardless, we are through to the next round.

Anyone but Athletico plz...

I’m not suggesting the 5-1 victory was down to the penalty. Over the course of the 180 minutes, we were definitely the better side and controlled the tie.

Just saying that the penalty changed the momentum at the time. Sure, they weren’t battering our goal but I was surprised how open the play was in the first half. Our shape looked vulnerable at times and if that was a more clinical side (ie, Atletico) then it could have been a different story.

But from the onwards, it was a pretty professional display. Did what we needed to do and now we hope to somehow avoid AM in the draw.

Fair summation.

We are no chance against Athletico over 2 legs, a one off game in the final is our best chance to snatch a win.

Lyon and Dortmund going out also help us a fair bit.

Have been having this dodgy feeling 1-2 (3-2 agg. win). Score early. Relax too much. Give one back on a cluster****. Give up a second nearly instantly as we deflate. Hold on for dear life, have to suffer thru 5 minutes of extra time at the end.

Then I report to Midland Hospital with heart attack symptoms.
I like being wrong. :thumbsu:

Good result over the two legs.

Going to call it, Atletico next because we always draw the big gun (Barcelona, Bayern years on end).

$4.25 second faves. Still worth a flutter. Auba plays we'd cruise it.
We wouldn't be cruising anything with Atletico Madrid around, who if we are being serious better than 3 or 4 of the sides left in the Champions League. Baffling how they had such a poor group stage.
