Also, how do you put the tweet in the post like that? I can never do it properly. #noobAll over the French press as well, think we will get him cheaper than what Lyon were first asking but I reckon this gets done![]()
Yeah hence what I meant that I can see Luiz not wanting to exert his full capacity.Emery was just a very poor communicator and motivator I think.

If we get Aouar done quickly we can't rule out a deadline day deal on Partey. Players like him are rarely available so cheap and easy and letting that buyout lapse would be silly. I know we say there's no money but we also said that pre-Pepe last season.
The challenge we have this time is the €50m release clause needs to paid in one upfront payment for Partey. We cannot conjure the 3-4 year instalment package we did for Pepe last year.
Undoubtedly true. We're definitely playing transfer chicken with them over Torreira though.
Draw is our best hopeHow competitive can we be at Anfield on Tuesday morning our time ?
We beat them the last 2 times. Lets make it 3 in a row.
Didn't see the game but read a report that said Jota's goal was 110% a handball? That’s easily our best performance at Anfield since winter 15/16.
Liverpool absolutely dominated the first half - I said aloud “that’s some proper bullshit” in the wake of Lacazette’s goal.
Their first was down to Salah’s brilliance, though Tierney could have had more help (we were slightly caught off-guard in expectation the foul on Keita would be called back). As for the other two conceded - soft as they come, with 2) Willian not tracking AR & 3) a poor clearance from Luiz.
Defensively I feel there’s only so much you can do against the world’s best front 3. With time will come further gelling of our centre halves, and Holding/Luiz won’t be our first-choice pairing for long so I’m not concerned at all - just would have rather faced Pool 19th instead of 3rd.
When we successfully played out the back (a rare feat tonight considering our mediocre passing), there were gaps to exploit and our first goal was one of numerous opportunities. Poor execution (credit to Liverpool), but we were doing the right thing.
Mentally speaking, we remained resilient throughout - a refreshing change of pace given the past capitulations.
The need to do business is perfectly clear. Xhaka did okay and Elneny I was impressed with, however the gulf in class I felt was most evident in the middle. Fabinho was outstanding, playing the role we need Partey to come in and do. Aouar we clearly need, though Ceballos cut through Pool’s banks with ease when the opportunity arose (between each 5 minute block of defending). The urge for creativity is slightly excessive in my opinion - it’s obviously a requirement but a ball-winning 6 I personally yearn for.
We could have stolen a point there, though it’s a fair result given Liverpool’s dominance. Time to get active in the market. Can we get both Aouar and Partey in this window? I hope Arteta isn’t faced with a decision between them.
