I wouldn’t be surprised to see a version of this. If Havertz is genuinely the Xhaka replacement, I could see a two man pivot behind the front 5 - maybe Zinchenko beside Rice is a more standard midfield role, with the flexibility to drop to left back if there is a need to go to a back four in game.

I also think 3-2-4-1 offers Tierney a role that he's more comfortable with, which is why I think there's talk about him staying. Everyone talks about Saka needing a chop out lest he burn out, but the other player that racks up insane minutes during the season is Gabriel.

Yes that seems much more proportional for Xhaka. The mooted fee a few weeks ago was around €13-€15m which didn’t feel right on face value.

Also sets a benchmark for a player like Partey. Juventus need to offer more than £17m. Lokonga should command a fee around £10-15m, all things being equal.

I was reading somewhere that 24 month period ends up as three calendar years for us so if so this seems favorable for all.

We were clearly looking to spread the payments out over longer. Our transfers are debt funded, so our transfer activity is impact by the terms can negotiate. I believe we still owe money on Pepe for example. Hopefully the timing of payments on this deal doesn’t impact other business we were planning to do.
