I always interpreted those comments from Cedric as along the lines of “pay my contract out”. Which he’s well entitled to wait for given how many others Arsenal have paid out to go away. At a minimum I think we’d be looking at a heavily subsidised deal if he was to find a new club given his current wages.

I really like the prospect of having Partey in the squad. Utilised with Rice in some fixtures, or one of them as the single pivot depending. With Jorginho in the mix as well, it’s a very strong group to draw from with the league and CL to contend with.

Losing both Partey AND Xhaka at the same time is too much change for me. It wouldn’t make sense to me on face value. Which is why I can’t help but question how much of a factor is the off field stuff in what Arsenal will or won’t do with him this summer.

Agree, it would be too much change in the engine room for me. I think we could use Rice, Odegaard and Partey midfield for tough away games.

There may not be enough minutes to go around in the end, but having a squad with Rice, Partey and Jorginho as three options is brilliant.

Further to my post above about using Rice and Partey in tough away games - I was doing some light research into comparing Rodri, Partey, Caicedo, Rice and Casemiro together.

Casemiro has the best defensive related stats, followed by Caicedo.

Rodri is has the best passing related stats, and is also good at progressing the ball. Whilst Casemiro is pretty poor at this part of the game.

Both Rice and Partey are both fairly similar in terms of their strengths. Rice is better defensively and both are good at carrying the ball and progressing it forward.

Disclaimer - stats were based on last season, and all of them are fairly good at everything at the end of the day.

Remember Rice played in a relegation threatened team so his stats are probably a bit different to the rest too.

Arsene Wenger has described Arsenal’s £105 million capture of Declan Rice as excellent value for money, but that he did not have those funds during his spell in charge.
Arsenal are looking to push on under coach Mikel Arteta, following their surprise second-placed finish to Manchester City in the Premier League last season.

It was a sizeable outlay, in completing the move Rice became the most expensive British transfer with the fee eclipsing the £100m Manchester City paid Aston Villa for Jack Grealish.
Wenger does not see it as a worry, as he feels the midfielder will prove to be excellent value for money - as will Jurrien Timber (£38m) and Kai Havertz (£65m).
“I think it is a good investment,” Wenger told Eurosport. “Overall, personally I think they have made good buys as they are players who are now mature, 23,24, and still young so can stay together for a few years.
“They will be under more pressure after last year, but they have learned a lot and they can show they can deal with that pressure now.”

Wenger said he would have made similar moves in the transfer market towards the end of his time at the club, but that he did not have money at his disposal.
“I had to cope with no money at all, so you have to find a different way,” Wenger said. “Arsenal is now in a good financial situation and bought what they think will win the championship.”
Asked for his thoughts on Arsenal’s chances in the Premier League next season, Wenger said: “I believe we will win the championship, it is as simple as that. I have less doubts for Arsenal than the cycling today.”
Wenger was speaking to Eurosport at the start of Stage 15 of the Tour de France, and he is relishing the general classification battle between Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar in the Alps.

Doesn't mean they shouldn't have tried.

I watched the this video the club put out yesterday, was very good by the way.

I reckon the association with a kit is also informed by performances and moments etc. For example, the lighter pinkish one I always remember Saliba’s left foot curling goal, against Brentford I recall. The match his tequila song was forged by the away fans. The black kit had many moments, the two late goals against Villa being the standout for me. Vieira celebrating his assist before the ball even reached Martinelli, unforgettable stuff.

My point being this new kit I don’t mind at all, over the course of the season it might resonate more if we can produce in it.

The black away kit from last year is all time. A difficult one to follow up on.
Seems like perhaps one year we go experimental, the next quite simple. Im
All for something different but find this one quite jarring. Think those lines either have to be gone or more opaque to work.

Smart move for him to play for the US. There will be huge marketing opportunities open to him now.

It's kind of amazing to think we currently have three USA players in the squad.

I wonder if KSE will have any influence over whether we keep Balogun in particular?

A young and talented US player playing for one of the biggest clubs on the planet can only be good for business.

Balogun will be their poster boy in the coming years leading to the World Cup. The commercial opportunities for him and the club are considerable in that market.

I feel he has a higher ceiling than Nketiah. Ultimately though KSE will support whichever direction Arteta chooses.
