Nice win. A shaky start to the second half - interesting take by Arteta on Viera's defensive work. I'll have to watch the replay and see what he was referring to.

Silver lining is that our 2nd 11 will have a regular weekly game up until the WC. We looked like a team emerging from a long pre-season in some respects.

Arteta said: ‘Yes, you saw the quality. Every time he’s around the box he’s a real threat, really intelligent player and brave.

‘In defending he still needs to do more and understand it more because organisation is key when you play against good teams in ball possession.’

Yep it made me a little nervous with Liverpool looming on the weekend. My theory is Arteta is continuing with what he experimented with in pre season, trying to rotate that front 3 and give them more minutes together, as at some point this season we're going to have to use different combinations when injuries etc come. Jesus wide and Nketiah central was a constant in pre season and they looked very good together (with all the standard disclaimers that its just pre season).

Also he's keeping them sharp and focussed, we should be gunning for this trophy (which I absolutely think he is) and top spot in the group is very important to seal.

I feel that he should have kept Marquinhos on for the entire game, not brought on any of our top players and let Soares and Nelson replace Gabriel (Tomi moves LCB) and Martinelli.

We had the game in the bag before the subs.

Maybe Smith could have got a run replacing Xhaka too. He's wasting his time here at Arsenal ATM if he can't get on when we are 2 nil up at home against a Norwegian side.

Having said that we'd not have had that mazy dribble from Jesus, who is pure magic.

I think the subs helped secure the result. Bodo looked good start of second half and Turner made a very good save to deny them.

I also feel that these games act as a training session replacement that allows Arsenal to manage the rest of the week for our first 11. All of our first 11 that had minutes will have light weeks, and those that didn't, get to have more thorough sessions. I assume that's what Arteta refers to when he says he has 'a plan' for managing the Oct/Nov schedule.

I also like that we have one of our three 'captains' on the pitch every game. I feel that is important considering how young our squad is generally.

Yes Marquinhos is one who I thought would play the 90. Cedric only returned to training this week maybe it was too soon to feature, I'd imagine he features next Thursday.

Elneny's injury has probably necessitated Xhaka's involvement more than what would be ideal - Arteta probably reluctant to not have a couple of experienced heads out there at the same time. Would like to see Smith make his debut soon.

We have a special player on our hands. The cross in to Holding was brilliant.

I'm loving the wing/AM unit of Saka, Martinelli, ESR, Odegaard, Vieira and Marquinhos. Hopefully Nelson contributes too.

I think Vieira has gone under the radar a fair bit due to his injury causing him to miss the pre season and early matches. Looks a fantastic signing so far and reminiscent of some classical Arsenal footballers in a similar mould of the previous era. Rosicky, Hleb, Fabregas, Nasri, Cazorla etc.

I'd like to thank Arsenal for keeping my spirits up unlike my other teams

I think our squad is pretty thin, we need reinforcements January imo

Yes I still think there's a gap in depth on the wings, and in CM. January will be very active for a number of clubs. Always a bit of a flurry after a world cup. Interesting to see if we go back in for Luiz on a much cheaper fee (given he'd have 6 months left on his contract then), or more likely we might aim higher and perhaps look to bring in that long term Partey like signing.

ESR will hopefully be back then as well (like a new signing).

Nice to get the 3-0 win.

Need to top the group as you avoid a playoff against a potential big CL team and it also means 2 less games by going straight to the Round of 16.

Yep that's a great incentive, and can see why Arteta made the subs he did - bank those wins early and control the group. Perhaps if we've sealed the top spot by say matchday 5, then the right has been earned to perhaps leave the first XI players out of the squad and play more youth etc.

Another 6 point match... Massive game! Win against Liverpool will put us quite a few points up from them... Still early in the season but that's massive if we win!!!

Edit: currently 11 points in front! To go 14 points up would be great.

They do have a game in hand, but yes if we do win it'll be a tough job for Liverpool to overtake us even if it is really early in the season.
