The handball interpretation changed at the beginning of this season (or last I can't remember) but it's basically "use a common sense approach".

If the player is in a motion were the ball hits the part of their body that could be handball (e.g. below the sleeve) the umpire looks at two things:

1. Was the natural motion the player the reason for the position of the hand for the handball? Or was the movement a deliberate attempt to "make the body of the player bigger" to impede the ball?

2. Was the contact with the ball to the players hand unavoidable due to proximity?

I think the Gabriel was safe on both of those interpretations.

And Zinchenko was under an injury concern, I think that's why he didn't play midweek either.

Some sort of minor muscular problem again I think Arteta said.

Yeah I thought the proximity thing came into it but I can see it given cause his arm was out even if not intentional.

The replays of the penalty weren't really convincing and I don't even know if it was a pen based on what I have seen.
VAR denied us a penalty against Tottenham for something very similar. It's one of those decisions that can fall our way or not. It happens. I know if that was a penalty against us, I'd be livid.

Still, that second half of ours deserved the result. We absolutely played them off the park.

Strong starting XI, excellent away result. Top spot almost secured, can rotate now heavily towards the end of these group matches.

That pitch is tricky and they’d won 14 European matches at home in a row until now.

Arteta is absolutely going for it, and Saka is in goal scoring touch, brilliant stuff.

That's not right, 2 point ahead of PSV, who we play in the next two games. Will have to continue to play strong lineups in those games unfortunately.

Yes that's why I said almost. That first fixture against them will be very important to win.

Quite a terrible game really, a deflected goal from Saka’s chest was almost poetic given the match itself. We really got away with one there, didn’t create too much overall and they had the far better chances that somehow continued to be fluffed.

A classic example of take the win, the clean sheet, the 3 points and never speak of this match again.

Tricky test at Leeds tonight after a short turnaround, need to keep winning also as the Pesky spurs have 23 points from 10 games.

Martinelli ran riot there last season. Keen to see him do his thing tomorrow. I reckon Tomiyasu starts again at LB with Tierney playing the 90 minutes at Bodo.
