How could we possibly * this up? We were keen since the start of the season.

We were willing to spend over 70 million, so why haggle and not just stump up the price. Just rubbish stuff from the club.

This will he another Hazard. Let's just hope we don't panic and end up with another Gervinho equivalent.

Given how publicly this played out though, yep it’s a kick in the teeth to miss out. As disappointing as it is, it’s not the first time Arsenal missed out on a target and it won’t be the last.

Went for Raphina in the summer. Lisandro Martinez. Neto. Then Douglas Luiz late on. Couldn’t acquire any of them.

Yet Arsenal are still top of the league.

The club surely knows we can’t be inactive like this time 12 months ago. We’ll strengthen the squad one way or another - they just need to get their skates on and do it knowing everyone else knows how much money Arsenal have to spend.

Will we strengthen? We've spent all this time on Mudryk, for nothing, and have little time left for a panic buy.

Who can we possibly bring in at this point of the window that would be of the equivalent quality of Mudryk.

On a side note, you just know that he's going to torment us for years just like Hazard did.

Great win, the mudryk deal annoyed me a little, though I understand it, it’s how we got ourselves into trouble in the first place.. we really need to bring in a reinforcement or two, we are a genuine chance at the title, can’t help but think it would be negligence if we don’t get a couple players right now.

I'm still haunted by our inactivity during January 2014. Top of the league and in dire need of reinforcements. Giroud was doing overtime, and we were in desperate need of a 6/8. Wenger sat on his hands and rotated Yaya Sanogo up front, with Flamini & Arteta in the middle. And we all remember how that season panned out..

Yes this resonates with me - stung by the Mudryk late U-turn (or whatever we want to call it). However that was a very very significant result this morning. For various reasons in no particular order:

  • First time we have won the away NLD since 2013/14 (Rosicky the magician with the winner)
  • City's loss the day earlier gave Arsenal the opportunity to extend our lead at the top (ie, the pressure/spotlight fell to Arsenal to see how would we respond)
  • Missing out on Mudryk could have had a cascade effect, and send us into a little wobble (how many would've come out with the narrative of "here we go, Arsenal are gonna cough this up now and fall away this season".....that was meant to happen after the Jesus injury right?)
  • It was no lucky or fluke victory - this was an assured, professional performance where played them off the park from the opening. What a contrast between the clubs.
  • Lastly, Arsenal have shown once again we have an internal structure in place, learning from past mistakes, and will not be drawn into bidding wars etc or blowing our budget/wage bill. Like it or not, that's a level of discipline that successful institutions adhere to and I'm confident we've also learned from last January and will strenghten the squad accordingly in the next fortnight.

8 points clear at the top of the league. ****ing glorious for as long as it continues.
