El Neny out for a while and Lokonga is pure average. Kiwior has played CB this season and is obviously new to the country / league.

I'm also not convinced that Zinchenko should be moved there.

Right now we have only two CMs that we can actually rely on.

If we don't stump up for Caicedo, or find some other alternative then we are taking such a ridiculous unforgivable risk.

The problem is premier league DMs don't grow on trees. Brighton want 90m for Caicedo. That's very unlikely to happen.

Partey is a gun and practically irreplaceable. If we lose him for the year we're probably stuffed regardless.

Yes it’s almost impossible to replicate what he does for the system. It took him approx 12 to 18 months to learn that position under Arteta, at the age of 28 or 29. It’s hard not only to expect Lokonga at his age to do, but also to find someone else in the market to step in. Arsenal have built very good depth elsewhere across the pitch, in Partey’s position however it’s very difficult to do.

TBH, if we can't find cover for Partey, I'd be more comfortable with Zinchenko playing DM and Tierney at LB than I am with Lokonga playing at DM.

That said, Caicedo is NOT worth $90m AUD.

That’s the English pound figure, AUD would be much higher. I think Caicedo was always going to be difficult at this late point of the window and that IG post from his new agents may have been counter productive. I’m guessing we have alternatives in mind however with less than 2 days until the window shuts, it’s touch and go whether it will happen.

Zinchenko is weak physically and is slow. For all his strengths defending isn't one of them. I don't think he could possibly hold down the DM role. I think he could cover for Xhaka though.

Caicedo seems like a clone of Kante. Plus he's good on the ball, which seems to be what Arteta wants in a DM.

We are desperate for a midfielder. I don't care how much we have to pay or if it eats into funds for summer - if it helps us win the league then it will have been worth it.

Besides, Caicedo now is worth more to us than potentially signing Rice at the end of the season. Chelsea will be making a move for Rice then and his best mate (Mount) plays for them.

Brighton close on Ayari in Arsenal boost

Brighton are set to announce the arrival of Swedish midfielder Yasin Ayari - potentially paving the way for Moises Caicedo to join Arsenal.

Ayari, 19, is set to join from AIK Solna in a £5million deal. He has agreed a deal until 2027.

Arsenal saw an improved bid for Caicedo rejected on Sunday evening but could launch another bid before Tuesday night's transfer deadline.

.......

Arsenal winger Marquinhos will join Championship side Norwich City on loan for the remainder of the season, with the deal likely to be completed in the next 24 hours. [

Yep not a great track record when them offloading excess players to Arsenal.

It isn’t the most inspiring signing however its better than doing nothing it seems.

Yes, I'd be most concerned if a midfield signing wasn't brought in for you guys. Surely Kroenke and co must back Arteta to secure the title.

They've backed him at every juncture so far so would very much expect them to do the same given the stakes this season. Jorginho is better than nothing and given the short term nature of that, perhaps it allows for the club to go all out for Rice in the summer. Who knows though. Going to be a hectic final day of the window.

Hopefully you get the result you need on deadline day.

Another Chelsea cast-off, meanwhile they continue to sign elite young talent.

If it's a loan then so be it. But if we have to buy this guy then we've gone mad. There's no way they'd loan him to us given our position though, it will be a purchase or nothing IMO.
