Trossard making an excellent case to start. Martinelli has dropped right off. It would be very Arsenal to come out and roll City after these last two results.
I think martinelli is struggling with zinchenko, zinchenko cuts into the midfield, tierney stays out wide, he also plays better with Jesus who has better link up play than nketiah

Yes Jesus and Martinelli had an excellent partnership earlier in the season, interchanging very well. He doesn’t exchange as many passes with Nketiah and has been a bit off the boil recently. Strong case for Trossard to start v City.

It looked offside to the naked eye. If that ends up impacting the title race, I'll flip my lid. Just shouldn't happen in the supposedly best league in the world.

If we had won that game, how different would the reporting be right now? I can handle losing to Everton. We played poorly. But we drew our game last night because of someone else's incompetence. So now we have to put with 'same old Arsenal' tripe, when the truth is we played Brentford off the park. Just shits me.

Poor performance and a terrible result.

VAR obviously cost us, but we should be putting away the likes of Brentford.

Bench Martinelli for a few weeks, he's been garbage.

That.... Wasn't enjoyable 😡 lost 2 points. What by the end of the season will be valuable. Man City won't just give us the title we need to ****ing take it!

We were that bad were we? Seen none of the game - only the score etc.

Not really. Probably win that game 9/10 playing the way we did against lesser opponents (Brentford are seriously well set up team with dangerous outlets).

Lacked a clinical edge and Saliba was very naive in his defending (needs to learn the dark arts to defending). Outside of that we were sharp in possession and played with good intensity but lacked ideas. The type of game where Jesus certainly helps but I also think long term we need a physical brute of a striker who we can fire balls into the box and actually stand a chance of winning a header.

I saw our goal and the last 10 minutes.

It's pretty criminal the VAR forgot to draw lines. That is absolutely ridiculous and may cost us a title. If we got our fair share of calls in our favour, I wouldn't mind as much. But we have so more calls against us than for us. Useless bunch of cvnts.

Brentford are a very good side in excellent form at the moment. Taking 4 points off them this season is a very good return in that respect.

Off the back of the performance v Everton, it was largely improved. That City match is crucial in the context of the season.

I'm not one for conspiracies, but it is worth noting Lee Mason was on VAR at Old Trafford, where a Martinelli goal was disallowed because he went back to a "foul" by Odegaard ealier in the build-up. That was susequent determined to be an incorrect interpretation of the rules.

Pass from Saka for the goal worth watching
Saw it in the highlights. We are so lucky to have him.

As to the VAR, probably just bias but can't recall us having those clear and obvious errors missed in our favour.

Seemed to be a knock/cork style injury for Halaand, maybe taken off as a precaution. Whether he can recover in time, who knows. Its a short turnaround. Either way, City can take top spot with a win on Thursday.

A loss for Arsenal here would be a significant blow not just on the table, but to their confidence/mentality. The Invincibles knew which matches to avoid defeat in. As much as I would love a win (we really played them off the park in Jan 2022 before imploding), a draw as well would be a decent result with one game still in hand.

Kinda want Haaland to play... But also if he doesn't that's good for us.... 🤔

Just give me the 3 points (draw would be ok... But I won't the win)

At What point do we talk about officiating ?

Martinelli disallowed goal at OT
Jesus non penalty at Southampton
Dan Burn non penalty on Gabriel
VAR forgetting to draw lines vs Brentford

????

Don't like blaming the umps... But it does feel like we get the short straw a little to much.

Neither do I and we need to start finding our groove again ASAP.

But honestly it feels like we're on the wrong end of poor officiating far too much for it to simply be a coincidence.

Lee Mason was VAR at Old Trafford when Martinelli was disallowed, we got an apology from the league for that. Lee Mason VAR again on saturday forgets to draw lines ? I can live with human error live, hard to accept in at sincere on video replay when you have all the footage and time in the world to get it right.

You missed:

  • Being fined for surrounding the ref, not once but twice.
  • Maupay non penalty on Gabriel.
  • Saka having more yellow cards then his opponents have for fouls on him, despite being one of the more fouled players in the league with many of those being in the final third or on the counter.

We are not going to have every decision go our way but I don't think we have got one this season. Which in a title the fine margins can make a massive difference.
