No, it isn't all doom and gloom. It was a kick in the teeth the way we lost it. We worked so hard in that 2nd half to have it snatched with the last kick... seasons are full of moments like these, but if we get to Jan 4th, with villa away as our only loss, then it's job well done.Saw this comment on FB on Arseblog's post about the game and I agree with all of it.
One thing I think needs to be remembered at the moment is how many tough games we have had to play already. If I had to write down the 7 hardest games of the season in August I would have said it would be Villa, Newcastle, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man United, Man City and Spurs away. We have now played 5 of those 7 games, while managing injuries and despite having a setback yesterday we are still in a great position, particularly so when we get players back from injury. Time to kick on for the rest of December now!

And then factor in we played Sunderland too who are flying at home and were second at the time, it's not all doom and gloom.
It was a jammy goal, but they did very well to keep it alive like they did. They probably should have already been in front anyway given some of the chances they had prior. No, it isn't all doom and gloom. It was a kick in the teeth the way we lost it. The most important week is about to arrive - the week we have off between the Wolves and Everton games. The respite for everyone will be invaluable.
Yep, though we only have five defenders fit so not sure what we are going to do there - White, Timber, Cala, Hincapie and MLS.With the schedule this time of year it always throws out these mad type games. Both Villa and Arsenal played Wednesday night and then 2 and 1/2 days later play again in the midday kickoff, unfair to both teams and that’s probably why it was a bit more all over the shop and end to end.
Villa are an excellent team and a point would have been a fine result. It could have gone either way. Gyokeres attacking that cross from Rice would have had a tap in. Fair play to Villa winning it in that fashion, it could have gone anywhere but the bounce of the ball favoured them this time, this shit happens. It’s not doom and gloom for sure. Arsenal are so well placed.
Only 15 matches in, to have gone away to as many places as we have with the injury toll, and still be on top (of both leagues remember, the champions league too) is an exceptional position of strength to continue from here.
Villa will visit The Emirates in a few weeks time, and judging from the way Arsenal’s players reacted in anger to conceding that goal, I’d imagine there’s going to be sense of atonement in that upcoming match.
5 day break to Brugge (and surely some rotation is needed) and then Wolves and Everton across 7 days. This is just the type of breather the team needs to launch into those matches a bit more refreshed and rejuvenated.

We have also lost to Liverpool.

Injuries have hurt us, and I am not sure why we get so many injuries compared to other clubs. I don't know if it's a combination of bad luck, squad management or a poor medical team, but it seems more often than not we have an injury crisis.
Let Dowman have a run in the CL. Give Nwaneri some minutes. Rotate Eze, Martinelli, Trossard (is he injured), Odegaard, Zubi, Rice, Merino etc.
Players need to rest, the two fixtures against Wolves and Everton are key.
Sorry, yes - I meant our only loss during the festive fixture period...We have also lost to Liverpool.
Ah that makes sense about Trossard.Apparently Trossard’s minutes were being managed, he was only capable of approx 30 minutes so he came on, did his thing, then needed to come off. He’s been in a rich vein of form and the left side hasn’t been the same since his injury.
With Calafiori suspended for Wolves, I think he plays at Brugge. He can slot into LCB with MLS as the LB perhaps.
White has done two 90s in 3 days, sake with Odegaard. Hoping Saliba is back for Brugge as then perhaps RB can be shared with Timber/White.
At a minimum I think Rice, Merino and Saka can sit this one out (or not start, as Arteta will usually then bring them on in the second half). Can’t run Rice into the ground like has happened with Saka, Havertz in the past.
Norgaard surely starts at Brugge. Would also play Nwaneri from the start. Martinelli and Madeueke on the flanks. And with Eze only playing 45 against Villa, he perhaps can fill the midfield. Hopefully Gyokeres can start as well.
Norgaard, Nwaneri and Eze as a midfield may not be the most dynamic combination however Arsenal have earned the right to rotate this match. 5 from 5 in the CL this season, and it’s not a must win situation.
By contrast, Wolves and then Everton are much more important at this stage.
