We seem to be willing to take risks in our own six yard box playing out but once we get to the opposition box, we are so afraid of losing it that we just recycle it constantly. Crazy.
This was a very good read on it. We don’t have the technical expertise with so many key players missing to sustain this way of playing. We couldn’t get out, very little outlet on the wings however none of this is new information. That front 3 has been deficient in this regard almost everytime they’ve played together.
But when your squad depth becomes your main starters because of the recurring injuries, this shit happens.
How Arsenal’s technical shortcomings prevented them and David Raya from playing out
Arteta said Arsenal did some basic things 'extremely badly' on Saturday. Their dreadful attempts to play through Bournemouth was one of them
2 standout moments I remember when we actually beat their 4 man press. Raya played a brilliant ball through the middle to Havertz to open them up, sadly though his pass was then very poor and gave it away immediately in looking for Martinelli.
Secondly the offside goal for Gyokeres, the chance was there to play that pass earlier. He was onside due to one Bournemouth defender hanging back for a fraction too long, the earlier pass could have meant the goal stood. But that slight delay in playing the pass, the lack of the incisive touch, makes all the difference.
