Arsène Wenger expects to field a “very strong” side at Barnet on Saturday when Arsenal kick-off their pre-season friendlies.

The players have been returning to training in stages over the past few weeks and the names the Frenchman suggests will play at Underhill are those who came back earliest.

“It could be a very strong team at Barnet,” Wenger told Arsenal.com.

“Basically the players that are back in training are available, so you could see Kolo Toure, Manuel Almunia, Gael Clichy, Mathieu Flamini, Denilson, Theo Walcott, Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Adebayor. They are all likely to be included so it should be a very familiar side.”

I bet you that come next season, wenger will get some one from barnet. I can guareentee he will. Look at da silva. He played for dinamo zagreb and we battled them last year before the season started. Im positive wenger will be impressed by one of their players.

i went through all of the first team players before and arsenal have

3 right backs-sagna,eboue and hoyte

1 left back-clichy

4 centre backs-toure,gallas,djourou and senderos

5 wingers-ljungberg,hleb,rosicky,walcott and eboue(i know i also have him at right back)

6 central midfielders-fabregas,gilberto,diaby,denilson,song and flamini

4 strikers-van persie,da silva,adebayor and bendtner

i reckon arsenal need cover for clichy at l.b and another winger and they will be sweet but i doubt it will happen

that way arsenal can have numbers from 1-17 lol

according to the daily mirror :D:D

Arsenal are ready to unleash Mexican wonderkid Carlos Vela on the Premier League with boss Arsene Wenger viewing him as a long-term replacement for Thierry Henry.

What's a 100% left-back? Pure left-footer?

Any right-back who's not useless on their left foot (ie. can pass and cross with it) can play left-back.

Nigel Winterburn played a whole season at right back & he couldn't do sh*t with his right foot.

Funnily enough in the run home in 89 we started to fall apart & Liverpool were winning every game & we were at home to Wimbledon & losing & there was a bouncing ball outside their area & Winternurn half volleyed it in form about 30.

It was very odd because as I said he couldn't do sh*t with his right foot, he was the first to admit it.Where did that shot come from that effectively kept us in the hunt for the title?

God?

Probably.

Anyway looking at our squad if we're gonna do anyhting this season then I reckon a key thing will be how far on Walcott has come.

Realistically I don't think he's going to really challenge to be one of the 2 strikers but he could be our goalscoring (& obviously creative) threat on the flanks.

Hleb is never going to score that many, nor would Eboue, Freddie has gone both as a champion & maybe as an Arsenal player & whilst their is some hope that Rosicky can do a Pires & come out from a so so debut season into being a goal scoring superstar I'm not going to hold my breath. But Walcott with his pace you wonder whether he could be the key.

Maybe even play him on the left, play him on the right & he'll skin the LB & put in crosses, great if Edaurdo & the chaps are in the box but if we're still effectively playing the same way as always then maybe having him coming in from the left a bit like Overmars did to shoot early might be a goer.

Eduardo's very much a targetman type of striker though. He is a natural finisher. In most of the footage I saw of him albeit on youtube he was scoring goals either from doing an Henry-esque cut inside from the left, or finishing off a cross or pass from inside the box.

If we can get someone like a Walcott getting passed a fullback and getting in a decent cross than Eduardo is likely to finish it off.
