Do you guys think Wenger should have done more to try and keep Jose?

I think it all started to go downhill when his relationship with Henry broke down.

He may have been very valuable for us this year.

Comments?!?
Taking aside that he clearly wasn't happy & so that would affect is performance plus you don't want a rotten apple around, I just don't think he was that good. The alarm bells rang early on, then there was that game against Chelsea when he got 2 & I thought oh yeah he's gonna be good afterall but that was it really there was nothing more.He was clearly bought with the idea of playing up front with Henry but he couldn't do that so he was bunged on the wing but out & out wingers have never really been part of our game.

It was funny we bought him at the time we were sniffing around for RvP & when he came I thought that might be us out for RvP but he came a bit after & although he cost a lot less I was always more excited by his potential.

And it does seem true that Spanish players by & large are bad travellers, very few seem to do well in other countries.Whereas the Dutch seem to thrive in England.

LOL I wouldn't read too much into that Martins article.

The independents articles on us this season have been nothing less than hideous.

Add to the fact that there are no direct quotes, and we definitely dont need to sell players to get money.

Oh, and he's in negotiations with Newcastle over a new contract as we speak :)

Who could Arsenal face in the Third Qualifying Round?

Arsenal will be seeded when the draw for the Third Qualifying Round of the Champions League takes place (UK time) in Nyon on Friday, August 3.
That means Arsène Wenger's team will avoid Liverpool, Valencia, Sevilla, Benfica, Ajax, Werder Bremen, Celtic, Lazio, Anderlecht and Dynamo Kiev.
Shakhtar Donetsk, Steaua Bucharest, Rangers, Levski Sofia and Besiktas will complete the line-up of seeds provided they come through their Second Qualifying Round ties. If any of them are knocked out, their place as seeds will be taken by the team which beats them.
When Friday's draw is made, the second legs of the Second Qualifying Round ties will not have been played.
Arsenal will most likely to face a team which advances from the Second Qualifying Round. That could mean a reunion with Salzburg, who have already beaten Arsenal this summer, or Dinamo Zagreb, who lost 5-1 on aggregate to the Gunners in the Third Qualifying Round last season.
Of the clubs entering the Champions League at the same stage as Arsenal, seven are unseeded and could therefore face the Gunners - Fenerbahce, AEK Athens, Dinamo Bucharest, Spartak Moscow, Toulouse, Zurich and the team against whom Thierry Henry broke Ian Wright's Club scoring record, Sparta Prague.
The first legs of the Third Qualifying Round ties are scheduled for August 14 and 15 with the second legs following on August 28 and 29. Winners in this round will qualify for the Group Stage, while losing teams will be entered in the first round of the Uefa Cup.
Arsenal will be seeded in the Group Stage if they win their qualifier.

I bet we get Rosenborg or Beitar Jerusalem.

Imagine playing in Israel with "Fly Emirates" on our kits ...

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has had a dig at London rivals Chelsea by saying that no amount of money could tempt him to play for a club with a defensive set-up.

bigpond
He said: "There are only a few teams in Europe that play the way that Arsenal play. I'll always go for a team where I would earn less money but who play fantastic football rather than to a team where you can earn lots of money, win every week 1-0 or 2-0, but who play defensively.

"I don't like to run after people all game long. I like it when they have to run after me. That is the way I see football and that is the way I want to play it

Lazio should be a better hit out than Inter were, they're about at the same point in their pre-season as we are as they have CL qualifiers as well.

Hopefully we can pick up another win.

what i think he means by that comment is that it wouldnt matter to him how much money he got which is amazing especially with the size of chelsea wage bill every month

just as long as he played in an attacking team which arsenal are and chelsea are not

we still do look shaky at the back. Senderos in particualr lacks positional sense. I think Gallas and Toure are far better and will become solid for us.....

Good to see bendtner and eddy get amongst the goals.
