Not blindsided by this by any means, but I kept telling myself he was different, he loves the club, he'll stay.

The letter from him lacks class, which is even more disappointing. Would be a bit of a circus after that if we kept him IMO.

Hope we sell him to Anzhi Makhachkala, though I guess we all know where he's going (as an aside I don't think he'd actually help city much in the league with the quality they already have, but I guess the extra number will help them compete seriously for multiple trophies).

I hope we keep Vela now and go really hard for a couple of quality midfielders.

reading some of the reports suggest that wenger and gazidis had no idea that RvP was to make this statement. and rumours suggest that he's already got his plans set with another club and this move (whilst gazidis is on holiday curiously) was made to expedite the transfer. hard to know what to believe but just 24 hours before wenger came out and said we need to hold onto him no matter what, and the club has stood by him through injuries etc. so the timing of this statement is quite interesting.

The more I think about it, the more it seems he was always going to leave. Why would we have signed both Poldi and Giroud if we were to keep RvP? Sell him whilst he has some worth, we're not going to win him over during the season and invest it back in the squad, and give the 10 to someone who's deserving.

Rooney has won plenty of major trophies with United in the past, so United had a much better argument regarding ambition compared to Arsenal.

As for us, we have Daniel Levy, no one ****s with him.

and credit to spurs/levy for their stance on modric last season. remains to be seen whether arsenal have the balls to bind RvP to his contract but its not unrealistic. it can be done. as i said, it needs resolve from the top. arsenal have become a feeder club and something needs to done about it.

Glen it is a lie that Gazidis is on holidays. They said that to get the fans offside with the club.

ahh is that right latro, wasnt aware of this. so does that mean van persie is now playing mind games with the club and fans? nice...

Perhaps the club should let him rot for the next year and not play him.

do you really see us doing this? i would love to see that sort of resolve from the club, but sadly i doubt we have the balls to do what is necessary.

and apparently theo is considering his options. no loss there, cash in for him and the ox is ready to start more regularly (and perhaps ryo as back up depending on his work permit situation)

Theo needs a reality check.

Not as good as he thinks he is.

If we are going to sell RVP, it needs to be as soon as possible, so the team can start training and getting used to not having him around before the new season.

In some good transfer news, Denison won't be back. Has extended his loan stay with Sao Paulo. We should just sell him to them

they can't afford his wages. Also he has a clause in his contract that if any team want to trade for him we can terminate the loan deal.
