Think the Khedira rumours were just wild media speculation. Perhaps there was some mild initial interest but it just snowballed through the press from there, even though not much about made much sense from an Arsenal point of view.

The fee, the wages, the fact that he's not really a traditional holding mid etc. Just didn't sound like a Wenger signing at all. Wonder where he'll end up, this mornings rumours suggest he could end up at Monaco as part of the Rodriguez deal.

Anyway, hopefully we are pursuing Bender or Schneiderlin still.

Schneiderlin is my ideal choice, sign him Ospina and another CB and im very happy with our squad

And the supposed wage demands were rather absurd.

Overnight there were rumours we bid for Carvalho. But of course, if nothing happens, we still have Abou "Like a New Signing" Diaby

If nothing happens, we still spent 30 mill on Sanchez and 8 mill on Debuchy this window, it's not like we've done nothing at all.

Another keeper is still a certainty anyway, nobody can enter a season with a #1, a hastily promoted reserves player and nought else.

We will not win the league with Arteta/Flamini in our starting XI.

Seamus Coleman >>>>>> Debuchy
Neither are elite and for price Coleman would have cost he wouldn't have been worth it.

Carvalho's release clause is £35m apparently, but can't see us paying that. Reports suggested we've bid around £23m for him.
Will be a difficult deal to complete for two reasons. One being his agent is Jorge Mendez, the other is we are negotiating with Sporting and I'm fairly sure he is owned by a third party.

Actually, it's more that the 3rd party owners would get the first part of the payment, meaning that sporting only receive 7.1m pounds initially, which means that they might as well not sell him

Quite refreshing to hear those comments from Wenger, is usually very low key and downplays a lot of things when it comes to transfers. Interestingly, it sounds like no more forwards are in the mix and he's happy with perhaps Sanchez/Walcott/Campbell as back up to Giroud.

Carvalho seems quite pricey when Bender would be a comparable cost. But Carvalho seems to be available at least, along with Schneiderlin, whilst Leverkusen have repeatedly stated they have no intentions of selling Bender.
