Why because Wenger didn't want to spend an extra million or two on a player who was only going to be around for a few years. Lloris is a player Wenger loves and his wanted him for a while.

we only offered £2m for him in 2010. no wonder fulham rejected us. he's showing no signs of losing his touch either, he could have played a good 4-5 seasons at arsenal. just imagine how many points we could have saved over the last few seasons by having a decent keeper. the amount of rubbish goals we concede each season is frankly embarrassing, we probably start with say a 7-8 point deficit each year because our club has its head in the sand in regards to the importance of a good goalkeeper.

lloris should have been purchased. its all in the past now i know, but if wenger really "loved him" and "wanted him for a while" then he would have been in our goals last night, not in spurs'.

Don't remind us.

More defence of Wenger by Tomnat. Are you guys really surprised?

Anyone see MOTD highlights?

Twitchy Redknapp is still confident that Spurs will finish ahead of us. Vinny Kompany rammed it down his throat: "We deserved to win last week against Tottenham but Arsenal have easily been the best team we've played this season."

I'm sure Redknapp was saying that when they were pushing him out the door as well.

I fail to see how having Lloris instead of Szczesny in goal last night would have made a lick of difference. In fact, the only difference would have been who picked the ball up out of the net twice, because both goals happened due to our centre of defence parting like the red sea and leaving the keeper ******* stranded.

Seriously, you guys pick the worst examples when it comes to negatives, but manage to harp on about average players like Ramsey and Song as though they're world beaters.

Also I don't think anybody on this board has ever had anything positive to say about Song or for that matter Ramsey apart from the fact that we all want him to do well.

I've been out the back of beyond: no telli, no internet, no mobile coverage, no radio and the only snakes were those sunning themselves on the rocks in the mornings.

Reading through your posts comrades, it's become pretty obvious that the majority of you have warmed to the idea that we need a quality goalkeeper in order to mount a challenge towards winning things.

I got back on the friday and in time to watch us thrash Tottenham. I really enjoyed Vermaelen at left back 'cause he is more a stay-at-home full back and this helps Podolski's game immeasurably due to the fact that he, Podolski, can be much more of an attacking weapon then just merely
a covering player for Gibbs, who is not really a good defensive full back as well as not being able to hit the side of a barn with a cross from thirty yards and Santos, who can't defend if his life depended on it.

It was great to see Sagna back and playing: what an outstanding player!

I'm going to catch up with The Arsenal's EPL games that I missed and see for myself as to why Wenger replaced Mannone with Szczesny. Did he shoot Wenger's granny or something did he? Szczesny did not disappoint me with his now customary backpeddling when an opposition player is coming at goal with the ball and opening up the angle to make it easier for the player to score. It didn't take long to lose the cool and calm demeanour one has after "chilling out", so to speak, after a number of weeks in the nunga nunga. Thanks Szczesny!!!!!

You probably won't like what you see with Vito's performance vs Fulham, NA.

We've been linked witrh vorm again, good keeper and has plenty of EPL experience. But doubt we'll buy in January.

Frimpong has been loaned out to Charlton. After 2 knee reconstructions in 2 years, hopefully he gets some luck on his side and can get through now injury free.

Shez was injured, having Mannone in goal was like having a cripple in the 100m sprint.
As opposed to a one armed weight lifter.

Just seen the Fulham highlights, I'll watch the whole game later but since when is it that goalkeepers are supposed to mark opposition players from a corner kick? Mannone did what 99% of 'keepers do when an opponent stands in front of them and that is, he pushes the opponent (a penalty really but never given) just before the corner is taken and normally the forward cannons into the defender WHICH IS MARKING HIM and that stops him, the forward, from jumping to head the ball. Where was the defender marking Berbatov? That goal was not down to Mannone.

The headed goal by Kacaniklic was not down to Mannone either. Those that reckon it is will also say that Hart should have saved from Caulker on that same weekend.

I notice that the pretty boy, after one game back, is shooting his mouth off again telling everyone how great The Arsenal is once again. Someone ought to smack him in the mouth and tell him to shut the **** up.

lol

If Szczesny has made the very same errors ... actually you're already at the maximum level of hate.

surprised at your leniency here NA, his positioning was terrible as the cross came in. it should have been a regulation save to his right, but because he was in no mans land he had to launch into a desperate dive to make it look like an almost fingertip save.

the club would probably be best served not making him available to the media for a little period of time, instead let him concentrate on the game itself. its a catch 22 though, what else is he going to say when speaking to the media? of course he's going to pump himself/the team up publicly, its not like he's going to come out with some hard hitting truths.

in fact the only player i can recall who told it like it is recently was sagna a month or two back when he spoke about his dismay regarding our continued sales of our best players. i cant recall him speaking publicly since, perhaps he was silenced by the club.

looks like theo did some damage to his shoulder during the spurs game over the weekend. at first i thought he dislocated his shoulder, from the reokay of his fall and the way he was grabbing his arm. but he came back on and looked fine, he even scored later on, but he's out of montpellier game tomorrow
