The Eagles are playing this right. They should walk away from the bargaining table with Carlton until Thursday.

It is not a foregone conclusion that Carlton have Judd and the longer this goes the more Carlton will sh*t themselves. Also the time delay allows Collingwood to get their best deal together and put it to the Eagles.

Judd will go to Collingwood because it has cap space, a good core of players, good facilities, finals prospects, fame and Twigley can be lloked after.

Collingwood will try to do a deal - if given a sniff and Carlton will miss out. Also Richmond won't want to do Carlton any favours.

The longer this goes, the quicker the bravado of Swann and Pratt will go.

The Eagles should just hold out now.

What are they going to hold out for? A better deal?
How is anybody going to give them a better deal than 3 plus 20 and Kennedy or Bower?
And to top it all off, each Club has a much better idea of what can be offered in the draft than any of us poor guessers, so they all know fairly well how it will turn out.
An interesting sidelight - can Carlton (or anybody else for that matter) offer their first round pick in a future year as part of a trade in this year? Could they say, we will give you picks 3 and 20 this year plus our first pick next year regardless of where we finish!

The Eagles are idiots you mean.

Judd will not go to Collingwood, Manchester United or the New York Yankees.

He has decided upon a club. He is a morale person and will hold to this decision. Collingwood can offer West Coast whatever they like but unless Judd says yes (please read above) WestCoast and Collingwood can't do anything apart from play with each other.

Everyday this drags on Carlton will reduce the offer. I can see West Coast getting sweet FA for the best player in the AFL and then they can blame themselves.

If WCE get nothing then that means Judd goes in to the PSD and Richmond pick him up for nothing.

If WCE make a deal with Collingwood and Judd doesn't like it then he can go to a club that wasn't in his top 4.

c) Tell Chris that they are happy for him to go to Melbourne, in exchange for pick 4 and Travis Johnstone and another player or pick. Still less than what they would get from Carlton, but more than what they would get from the PSD. Would force Carlton to move.
Wrong. What don't WCE fans understand that there is no option "C". Judd has to agree to a trade - otherwise he will go into the PSD.

Kennedy & Bower are extremely average players. They are fringe players at a club that has finished 16th & 15th in the last 2 seasons.

It's not that hard to trump a deal like that..

Im sure Judd will go to Carlton BUT its bloody funny seeing the blues fans here getting agro and defensive and trying to convince themselves that all is AOK!!

:D :D

Keep up the rumours and stuff everyone! this is great! :D

Yes - Judd has to agree to the trade, but let's not kid ourselves that he wouldn't go to Melbourne or Collingwood if the Eagle's hierarchy said that it suited them for him to do so. His choice of Carlton was based heavily on his perception that it offered the WCE the best deal. If they tell him it doesn't, it will influence his thinking.

What if he would prefer Collingwood over Richmond (which he clearly does). If the choice comes down to a trade with Collingwood or he goes to the Tigers in the PSD, he will accept going to the Pies.

If it's still less than they'll get from Carlton, how does it force Carlton to do anything? Carlton's bid is still the best, and come Friday morning, WC will take the best bid. They're not dumb enough to cut off their nose to spite their face.

The only chip WC have is that Judd also means a lot to us off the field - extra revenue, interest etc.

If as Judd said he chose Carlton over pies as a toss of the coin job, why couldn't he reconsider and agree to choose them if Pies satisfy West Coast.

I'm sure Judd must be having second thoughts after the ACCC investigation and the Zagames fiascos.

Also Carlton's financial stability is illusory. If Dicky keeled over tomorrow Blues are in deep doo doo and any post career assurances for Judd would disappear into thin air.

If he was really smart he'd chose the pies.

Lets not put words into his mouth he never said - he has not explained his choice of teams. Perception on here does not account for reality in the world of Chris Judd. Reality he has said he wishes to be traded to CARLTON - he has rejected the other teams.

Its not going to influence his thinking at 1.55pm on Friday - five minutes before he must sign off. I would have thought he is more likely to walk into the PSD just to spite the Eagles rather than accept a trade to a team that he doesn't want to go to. Reality is no matter what happens WCE won't get a better deal - they will only get a deal of equal value at best.

Judd does not care what West Coast think - he is choosing the club he wants to go to. Once again, its all irrelevant because WCE have no bargaining power.

LOL, you couldn't be more wrong.

The longer this drags on the more carlton have to UP the offer.

Scenario- W/C strike a deal with Collingwood or Essendon
They tell Judd sorry Chris, we have tried to deal with carlton and they won't come to the party.
Collingwood have offered us a fair trade that is ageed upon by all parties.
Decision is yours, Collingwood or Tigers in the PSD, we are done with carlton.

Then it's who blinks first

With respect, the ACCC "fiasco" is a non-event to Visy...they're not even as culpable as Amcor in the whole thing but I suppose that Amcor isn't a story and Pratt is.

Yes, its dodgy as hell and they're going to get sued for it. But you really think 30 mill in fines and maybe double that in compensation is going to worry Visy too much?

Further, Visy would have been preparing for this since the investigation began a loooonnnngggg time ago and would have already accounted for any potential fines in their business plans.

FFS as if Judd didn't know what Carlton were going to offer for him. Get this through your thick skulls, Judd thinks Carlton's trade is fair and won't be doing West Coast any favours. If he was happy to go to the other clubs he would not have choosen one when he didn't have to!

The Pies can't satisfy WCE any more than Carlton can. Pick 3 >>>>> Pick 14!

Pratt could solve all Carlton's financial worries with his spare change if he wanted to. Pratt is a far more contected person than Eddie ever will be. Judd would be stupid to want to be connect with Eddie. Judd knows he doesn't need Eddie to get on TV. Its Chris Judd!

You know you are rooted when you go into a trade negotiation hoping that a White Knight in tight assed Collingwood will come save you.

Lockett had agreed to come to Tiges - deal couldn't be done with Saints ended up a Swan with Lockett forced to agree terms. Stevens had agreed to go to Pies - No deal (Swann negotiating) and he ended up a blue.

Remember Pies were very close - I'm sure Juddy would would be looked after by Eddie and Judd would have no problems changing his midset to play for them. the longer this lingers the better it is for collingwood

Correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure that the reporter said that he spoke to Paul Conners (Judds Manager) off the air and he said that Chris Judd will categorically not be going to Richmond.

Take what you want from that. I guess it will really will only be Carlton & W.C negotiating.

Finally someone that makes some sense!!

A bit off the topic but rubbish - no company can afford to lose 30mil in one hit and not be affected. Further, Dick owns nearly 100% of the company - it is his money -a 30mil fine hurts don't worry about that. It takes a lot of hard work to turnover that amount let alone earn it as profit.

On whether it hurts the Judd deal who knows - it may have no relevance at all.

Collingwood have lot more trade value in theior players (who are actually good compared to the rabble at the blues).

They could offer Brown to play with his brother at WC or package one or soem of Reid, Brown, Rusling, Davis or Didak for an early pick.

Lets say pick 14, Brown and Didak (who love the culture there). Could do the trick - or package some players to Richmond, Melbourne or Essendon and offer picks 4, 5 and 14 or 2 and 14 . Of course Carlton could top it with pick 1 (but would they?)

The longer this goes on the better it is for the Eagles.

Carlton decide to pass on the #1 pick (and #3, or #20 & player) to the Eagles. All is good for all parties. :thumbsu:

OR

Eagles look elsewhere for a decent trade, find one and inform Judd.

Judd accepts = Carlton miss out on the trade of the decade through their own stubborness & pig-headedness.

OR

Judd goes into PSD and ends up at richmond.

OR

Judd tales a year off and waits for the next draft.

I'm sure that in the back of Judd's mind will be the willingness to go elsewhere if it means that or sitting out a year.
