Current *UPDATE-GUILTY* Ten Year Old Shoots Nazi Father

For those not familiar with the case one morning in May 2011 young Joseph Hall took his father's revolver and shot him in the ear, fatality. It was an intentional act, the boy does not dispute this. The story he does tell though is why. His father was a Neo Nazi and Ku Klux Klan leader, was violent towards him and his step mother, He claims to have got the idea from Criminal Minds where a child shot his abusive father without consequence. Dad also appears to have taught him about weapons and the right to bear and even use them to protect there so called freedoms. Was the boy doing what his father taught him to do.

On Wednesday lawyers were arguing either for Murder and pushing for an eleven year prison term . The defense is clearly trying to paint a picture of a frightened ten year old boy who was abused, uneducated and saw no other way out. It seems there looking for a dismissal as they claim the prosecution have not proven the boy culpable

Absolutely - there is a reason we should not try children as adults.

what hope does a 10 year old now 12 have if you put him in prison for 11 years? he gets out at 23 when normal people should be finishing college/uni and the only world he would of known is prison including 5 years in an adult prison. Surely the best hope for him is to sort out some kind of home for him and try and get him a proper education and hope he turns out a decent functioning member of society.

I don't blame the kid. I can only imagine how s**t it would've been with a father who was a Neo Nazi and Ku Klux Klan leader.

Surely common sense has to prevail. As wrong as murder is, he has given his mother and himself a chance at a better life. Locking him up throughout his entire teenage years will do more damage than good and what's to say he doesn't become a killer after spending 11 years in jail from age twelve? He has already killed a man. Of course, you can use that argument as a reason why he should be imprisoned.

Updated as the judge has found the boy responsible and convicted him of 2nd degree murder. Sentencing to occur on the 15th of Feb.

Unsurprisingly defence attorney says he's planning an appeal.
