My experience in the public service is that there are more serious ramifications for being RIGHT.![]()
Yeah and the right answer always meets resistance. Public service loves status quo. Im also experiencing a losing battle atm... they don't value common sense!
We have to go out and search every player coming off contract. (Football manager) Graeme Allan is doing that now. There'll be 15-20 players coming off contract. Our job is to go and find out who is available.''
So who are the most likely stars?
Everyone keeps throwing up Brisbane ruckman Matthew Leuenberger, but contract talks are at such an advanced stage in Brisbane we can virtually discount him from consideration.
OUT OF CONTRACT TALL FORWARDS
SERIOUSLY IN PLAY
Lance Franklin
Jack Watts
Mitch Brown (WC)
Harry Taylor
Daniel Gorringe
Matthew Leuenberger
Dan Currie
Aaron Cornelius
Franklin still seems a huge chance to be lured by a GWS franchise that could easily offer him $7.5 million over five years, while Watts will likely stay under a new coaching regime.
Leuenberger seems increasingly certain to stay, but all of Gorringe and Currie are totally attainable for a club needing a new ruckman. Taylor will go west or stay.

Key forwards on Kevin Sheedy's hit list to lure to GWS
Melbourne media finally catching on that Leuey aint going nowhere.
Ace's name being mentioned is interesting though.

I really don't get why they need more key forwards. I would have thought they would be targetting defenders first and foremost.
IMO the bold are more likely to be at other clubs next season....
A post (and responses) deleted. We don't allow Bay13 terms to be used on this board - not sure why someone would think that they could apply a Bay13 term to one of our players without getting people upset.
Agreed. Probably back in their home states as well (apart from Watts).
Luey + Ace for Number 1 pick + 3rd rounder? They get what they need and we get the most talented 18 year old. I can see GWS and the Lions doing this.
Jack Watts is talented, he is just in the worst team for developing young players. He would be a star if he was drafted by anyone else. Probably not number 1 pick but top 5 imo.And what happens when we draft the next Jack Watts with that pick 1?
Leuey will go and become an AA at another club.

Leuenberger for Giles and Cameron take it or leave it.
Unfortunately if Leuenberger did want to go to GWS there would be the threat of PSD.
hhaa would make sense, leave one club after 7 years of mediocrity to join another who will have a further 3 or 4 years of it

okay fair enough. I didn't realise he can leave for the PSD.
