I would not be surprised if GWS played in a GF before we did.

I thought that too but with benefits theyve recieved from the afl in regards to draft picks etc they probs have one of the best collection of young players however if they dont get some mature bodies around them to aid their development it might take them a bit longer to be successful than we think

SO can we close this thread yet?

"Everyone keeps throwing up Brisbane ruckman Matthew Leuenberger, but contract talks are at such an advanced stage in Brisbane we can virtually discount him from consideration."

Also I find it surprising that Ace is even on that list considering it's a Victorian article (I think). Guess the journalist has a fonder memory of the NAB cup then the Brisbane Match Committee.

agreed sick of seeing shitty articles and even worse trade theories

Spot on Dom PC. BS this fringe clubs like us lose our best players yet the top teams hand on to theirs. The free agent no trade needed means we should land a solid pick, but anything can happen..

Luey + Ace for Number 1 pick + 3rd rounder? They get what they need and we get the most talented 18 year old. I can see GWS and the Lions doing this.

We'd be stupid to do that. You only ever trade an elite player when they want to leave the club and are out of contract.

I certainly can't see us doing that deal. I'm interested to know how you can see that happening.

No sure if that's how you quote stuff but interesting article.
Greater Western Sydney has declared its draft picks, including a potential No. 1 selection, up for grabs in this year's trade period as the club ramps up its bid to catch a big fish.
Satisfied with the talent it has mined from the 2011-12 drafts, GWS is now hunting for players entering the prime of their careers.
"Every draft pick, including pick one, is on the table," said Giants football manager Graeme Allan.
"We're at the stage we've got a few pick ones, so we probably need experienced players."

77 games in 7 seasons, that sucks.
It's not as bad as it sounds, how many will longer have played at the end of this year ? The first 2-3 years normally don't get too many games in for rucks. 120 would have definitely been better tho!

Yeah, I was gonna say...for all of Leuey's injury woes, you've just got to look at Gumbleton's record and realise we've had it pretty good all things considered.

Glad this chat will be over soon. Not glad that the journos who rumour-monger won't have to face the music.

Unfortunately, we'll do it all again in 2 years time when his next contract expires when could be more in-demand next time around.

Nature of footy I spose.

Robbo saying other clubs would be surprised if Leuey was to sign and still think he is very gettable.

Gerard seemed pretty suss on the recent story saying he would be signing within the week.

Considering those words were from Kerr, I hope it wasn't him putting the cart before the horse with such a proclamation.

I think I will still be on edge until an announcement is officially confirmed.

Let's be honest the two of them would have the same knowledge of Brisbane contract negotiations as you and I would of performing brain surgery.

I don't watch any of the the Fox Footy shows anymore, only the footy. I tend to cut off anything negative I hear about the team (just ask a lot of the people I've unfollowed/unfriended on Twitter/Facebook!).

Childish, yes, but when I'm at home trying to relax after a hard days work putting up with idiots I don't really feel like having to read negative crap about my team.

Back on topic, Leuey can't go to GWS. Orange is SO not his colour. Maybe if it was a different shade (fluro?) you'd be right, but that shade of orange just clashes with everything.

Greg Davis quoting Dean Warren

"We've had really productive discussions with Leuey's manager and we should be making an announcement in the near future. We are not far away at all," Warren said.

"Discussions with Richy and Pearce are ongoing but are also well-advanced."

Rich is closer to coming to terms than Hanley but there is no danger of the Irishman leaving the Gabba.
