Robbo saying other clubs would be surprised if Leuey was to sign and still think he is very gettable.

Gerard seemed pretty suss on the recent story saying he would be signing within the week.

Considering those words were from Kerr, I hope it wasn't him putting the cart before the horse with such a proclamation.

I think I will still be on edge until an announcement is officially confirmed.

If we lose Leuey, I think there is little chance of the club improving for a few more years on top of what its already going to take. Definitely our most important player to sign. Losing Clarke and Leuey in a few years would be devastating.

It's their job to stir shit and make headlines or no one would watch the show. Luey has all ready said he loves it and doesn't want to leave the club. So I'm comfortable in waiting

You'd have to think that the Courier Mail would jump at a "player exodus" story if it were remotely plausible. That they are reporting this way gives me confidence.

Think it would actually give me more confidence if it was a Hammo special, talking about poor culture and the certain departure of all three. That would almost 100% guarantee they would be re-signing imminently!
:D

With Riewoldt and Richmond significantly apart over the financial size of the contract, GWS chief David Matthews told Fairfax Media that his club was ''super keen'' to look at luring Riewoldt to the Giants. He said Riewoldt, along with Lance Franklin and the Brisbane Lions' Matthew Leuenberger, remained their most sought-after potential recruits.

Can't see Riewoldt leaving the Tigers but it would be negligent of the Lions not to send a decent offer his way.

This one was never in doubt, Robbo showed a lack of general knowledge and gut instinct for the type of bloke luey is and how loyal he is to lions when he kept throwing doubt over him staying on at the lions. he was NEVER going anywhere, I stated that with confidence in Feb.

Rich and Hanley will be next, within the next 14 days, they may even already be done but they want another positive headline day. micheal whiting when asked by a mate told him "karnezis wants to stay" (much to my surprise) and polec wants out, I tend to believe that might be the case, so we better start thinking about what we want for him, he can be used to package up with a high pick to lure an A grader north.

Hey, hey, hey. I asked Clark whether there was any evidence or whether it was a bullshit rumour and he said "verified". Can't get anymore convincing than that.

"Verified".

Onya Jay.

Bookmarked - I tend to wait for facts so if it's okay with you I won't be starting to think of any 'packages' but don't my little post stop you [or others] walking the road laid by your gut feelings. :p

Not surprised Polec wants out, should still be able to get something decent for him at the trade table.

Why wouldn't you be surprised? That statement infers that the Lions have done something wrong in regards to his development. Sure there may be a certain level of homesickness involved but all I have observed is someone injury prone who has facets of his game that need urgent improvement. Cant see that as 100% the clubs fault and in need of trading that issue away.

Anyway this is the Luey thread and i for one am stoked by his resigning. With possible huge offers on the table it was a massive sign of faith in the future direction of the Lions..:thumbsu:

Totally agree, great for the club as means we can still develop Longer over the period required for ruckmen (3-4 years) and then have the rotate through the forward line to rest as both are good overhead and generally reliable kicks.

Hope that his example helps a few others to sign as well. I for one have thought that he should be co-captain with Rich next season ahead of Rockliff.

It's easy in this day and age for players to want out if they're not getting games as part of the regular 22 for whatever reason. If Polec was thinking of leaving, it wouldn't surprise me for exactly that reason. We all now there's caveats as to why he hasn't. Having said all that though, if he finishes the season well and cements a position then those feelings can easily change. I'm not too concerned about what he's feeling now - it'll be what he's feeling at the end of the year that will matter.

And sometimes players who have been cruelled by injury as Polec has just feel that a change in club will bring a change in fortune generally. Hadley was one who expressed those sentiments when he moved to Carlton. Thing is, it didn't work for him.

Leuey on 360 tonight. Nice.

Gerard and Robbo backtracking FTW!

I take it it'll be a phone interview? Damn shame we won't actually get to see Leuey's face on the show when they put it to him that he was actually meant to have signed to GWS weeks ago.
