Yes much appreciated for all the hard work lads. Has added a lot to the board and I have enjoyed listening to them on my drive home once a week. We hope to see you back again next year and possibly with a bit of a draft/trade wrap perhaps if thats up your ally.

It's report card time!

Listen on iTunes

The season didn't end in the manner we would've liked but overall you'd have to say it was still a step in the right direction - not something you'd normally say about a team that's just won the spoon!

On this week's podcast we discuss what went wrong against North and wrap-up our 2017 campaign. We then run our eye over EVERY player, grading their season from A+ to D. Did we get it right? Who would you give an A or higher?

Thanks all for the support throughout the season. We really appreciate the feedback we received and hopefully we added something to the forum and provided entertainment! Thanks also to the players and Mike W for being guests during the year.

We'll take a break for a few weeks but we're both keen on doing something post trade period and maybe for the draft too.

Well done lads, I really appreciate the work you both put in and always enjoyed listening to the podcasts when I was driving home from Melbourne after a days work. Look forward to next year and coming on as a guest! :)

Listened to the podcast twice. No mention in the ratings of Frost from Collingwood. Did Collingwood let us have him as revenge for James Aishe? Can we send him back.

Well spotted! Not surprised one or two slipped under the radar...

For the record I'd probably grade Frost a D. Although he came off a limited preseason playing just the two games isn't enough. My expectation was for an accountable fullback that would take the opposition's gorilla, enabling Harris to cut across. Hopefully he recovers from his concussion and has a career resurgence next year like Walker and Bastinac this year.

Thanks for the episode. It would be great to have your list of grades summarised here, if only so I can remember which ones I found myself agreeing with (most) or disagreeing with (only a few).

FWIW, just scanning through them quickly, relative to expectations, I'd score them:
A: DBeams, Rich, Berry, Zorko, Robertson, Taylor, Witherden, Hipwood, Andrews, Allison, McInerney
B: Bastinac, McCluggage, Hanley, Martin, Walker, Cox, Skinner, McStay, Gardiner, Mayes, Lester, Rockliff, Lyons, Hammelmann, Eagles, Barrett, Smith
C: Keays, Robinson, CBeams, Clayton, Mathieson, Hinge, Grewar
D: Harwood, Bell, Bewick, Jansen, Paparone, Schache, Dawson, Cutler, Close, Freeman, Frost, William
No grade: Christensen

(These aren't judgements on overall quality of the players, just on how their seasons went relative to what I reckon we wanted from them)

Thanks for the reply. I had no idea Frost had problems through the season. There seemed very little mention of him from the club so I assumed he was on the outer. He very much flew under the radar all year especially as he was one of our few trades and we seemed to be lacking experience down back early in the season.

We're back, baby!

Listen on iTunes

We've both aged 10 years over the last 10 days but we're back to chat about our Trade Period dealings. Did we pay too much for Charlie? Did we let Schache walk too easily? Should we have paid Rocky? Will Luke Hodge teach our kids to drink and drive?

Funny to look back at this too! Personally I think Mike doesn't get enough credit for starting this chatter in May

Not to nit pick, but it was discussed on this board before that episode. I remember listening to that episode and thinking Mike must have read the discussion on BF.
