B: Armfield Jamo Thornton
HB: Bower Austin Russell
C: Scotty Mclean Simpson
HF: Waite Kruezer Walker
F: Betts Hendo Yazza

R: Warnock Gibbs Murph

I: Hampson Hadley Joseph Carrazzo

E: Irish Robo Jeffrey Grigg

I reckon Clokey and Irish would be spewing we picked up another tall key forward.

Sorry to burst the bubble a bit but I can't recall Hendo ever playing good as a forward for us, he played back or CHB and he wasn't even regularly named as a reserve. If he was to be in your best 22 it might me more towards the end of the year or in 2011.

“All I can say is that I’ll be out there trying my best. Pre-season will be where I set it up, and hopefully I can play down forward and kick some goals. That’s the plan and we’ll see how it goes.

“I do see myself as a forward, which is where I played all through my junior days, but I learnt a lot from that that stint up the back.”

Guess that answers that one.

Out
Fevola Stevens

I think a fit Waite will do more than Henderson in the FWD line next season..

Henderson provides a strong and tall defensive option we need short term and that eventually could move in the FWD line when matures

Murphy & Simpson could generate 60 goals between them if they roam the fwd 50

Scotland if up and running; would be an asset as one of the last senior players in the team

Grigg and Walker to burn the wings

I like it.:thumbsu:

With all these young line ups, what's great too is that the depth comprises:

- the unlucky (in this case Grigg, Hadley, CJ outside best 25)
- some unproven youngsters like O'keefe, new draftees etc and...
- plenty of hardened stopgaps like Cloke, Fisher, Wiggins, Setanta, Bentick who can come in and do a role.

I'm betting with a strong pre season Grigg could work his way into the lineup and be a solid 22 player again.

But for now he's on the outer until he can find his best form.

I think, sadly, that Bentick will be delisted now. Wiggins may be in danger as Fish has a one year contract and Cloke had the one year extension.

Not sure how it'll work out in terms of the delisting/elevating/drafting. Will be interesting to see. Just hope we keep building on the platform that we've made.

Setanta>>>>CHF.

It will keep him away from Fev's knee...

Ratts has already mentioned he see's him playing in the forward line.

Not only in the forward line, Ratts used the term "Power" forward, meaning he will become one of our "go to" players not just a forward player.

I dont know much about him but ODN or HBF, I cant remember which, has been on about this fellow for weeks. I took a look at the pics of him on the CFC website, he is a big boy. With Kruze, Henderson, and Hammer we are gonna have some super mobile big guys in our arsenal to run with our elite midfield and I hear Warnock is mobile too.

I think our "structure" issues will soon be a thing of the past. Dont worry about the goals, they will come, our back half will tighten so that we wont need to score as many to win and our mids will learn and get the fitness required to run defensively to help our backs but they will also control games more and stream forward and contribute on the scoreboard. We also have some good crumbing forward work to look forward to with Eddie, Garlett and Yazz to start to develop.

Great day for the club today. Great day. I was very excited about this season this time last year and I was rewarded with a good showing, I have no fear we will fall back again next year. None.

Interesting to see that there are no suggestions of Thornton going forward. I understand he was a forward as a junior... correct me if i'm wrong.

B: Armfield - Jamison - Thornton
HB: Austin - Bower - Russel
C: Gibbs - McLean - Waite
HF: Yarran - O'Hailphin - Simpson
F: Kreuzer - Henderson - Betts
R: Warnock - Judd (c) - Murphy (vc)
I/C: Joseph - Hampson - Walker - Carrazzo

Missed out: Garlett, Grigg, Scotland, Robinson, Browne, Houlihan, Ellard, Fisher and Cloke.

How many games are we expecting from Henderson next year? I hope he only plays about half the games, don't wanna ask too much from a young KPP too early. Don't wanna ruin his development.

T-Bird is absolutely locked in as our backline general. He's done the hard yards down there in some of the worst teams fielded in the AFL, being woefully outgunned. He's battle-hardened, and the grizzly old vet (at 25 or whatever he is) that can show Jamo, Bower and co the ropes. I like him a lot as the third tall defender. As maligned as he's been, he's actually great overhead and very brave. Backline for life.

Blues will win a flag if they get a defender. if waite goes forward the defence will be weak and if he stays back the forward will be weak. blues dont have a forward who can kick 60+ goals let alone 80+.

i call maguire to get in national or pre season draft

HF: Walker :: Henderson :: Betts
FF: Yarran :: :: Garlett

Essentially. The dream is to have Butcher slide to #12 or Serhat slide to our 3rd round.

A forward line that grows up together, wins together.

wow you guys are optimistic. Its a massive loss not having Fevola in your side. You can just throw Henderson or Kruezer in there and think that your GOLD!!

Huge weight of expectation on Kruezer and Hendersons shoulder now. Even if they both stand up for 22 games (and thats a big if) and perform admirably, they still wont have the same impact as Fevola.

Personally i think opposition defenders are going to run rings around your forward line for 2010

i love doing this...

b: dennis armfield; michael jamison; bret thornton
hb: jordan russell; mark austin; paul bower
c: kade simpson; brock mclean; bryce gibbs

foll: robert warnock; chris judd
rov. marc murphy
i/c: shaun hampson; aaron joseph; andrew carrazzo; eddie betts

it's all very speculative at this stage - depending on who we draft, whether mark austin is ready to take a kpd role, also if we get bradshaw.

i really like this list!!!

Good job

In today's game you need flexibility in particular with your smalls.:thumbsu:
The flankers can play through the midfield yet they can play their role on the flanks, especially Robbo's defensive unrelenting pressure in the forward line and Gibbs with his precision kicking out of the backline.
Russell can play as another tagger along with Joseph and Murphy is a goalkicking mid.:thumbsu: As shown by Geelong you can never really have enough mids.
A positive with Fevola gone is that there is that element of unpredictability in the forward line and no real "go-to" target.:)
Austin should be a big enough size to play permanent key position and will only get better with experience. In case of emergency he could swap with Waite or Hendo and play as an impact forward if need be, with Bower as the rebounding tall and Jamison and Thornton playing on numerous types.:thumbsu:
This team is subject to change depending on who we draft and the availability of Stevens for next year.
Oh, and for the first 3 rounds, replace Judd with Hadley, like for like.:)

Personally i think opposition defenders are going to run rings around your forward line for 2010

I think Betts, Robinson, Garlett and Yarran might prove that wrong.

J.Waite is no slouch and will slot right into full forward. Kreuzer and Henderson will be expected to play around him, chip in for bits and pieces. Nobody expects them to be superstars playing up forward next year.

Additionally there's the smalls who will kick goals and apply the forward pressure, and you'll find that when we won games against the better this year that our midfield had a massive impact with running forward and kicking goals.

I like how everyone thinks Fev was our only scoring option. Waite will prove what a valuable and versatile player he is in 2010.
