Help Uploading a gif for an avatar?

Admin, how do I upload a gif as an avatar? What are the time & pixelation constraints etc?

It’s a bit of trial and error and a large one might take a fair while to upload and process into different sizes. Mine was 2MB and didn’t appear on my profile for hours.

Okay, well I'll start with my 423kb template as my first problem.

A nice beginner set of instructions for us techtards would be helpful.

Thing is it’s not even clear what will and will not work. The biggest problem would be the number of frames. I use Photoshop to cut out a lot of frames but that’s not available to everyone. GIMP is free image manipulation software that might help, though I’ve never done animations with it.

It looks like an appeal to one of the resident technophiles might be the way to go.
